I took note when Emily Mackay was interviewed on NBC after the first round and her first answer was like, “First off, I’m officially an Olympian now, and I’m so thrilled to be here.” If anything says she peaked physically and mentally for the Olympic Trials, it’s that.
I feel pretty good about my podium picks: 1. Kipyegon 2. Tsegay 3. Hull. Hiltz and ESP both looking pretty good to nab a medal though. I think Tsegay shut it down in the last 100m but hard to have great confidence in her right now.
Tsegay looked cooked that last 100m to me, has two 5000s in her legs, and got 9th in her WR event.
3 hours later I just need to note I meant to write 1. Kipyegon 2. Welteji 3. Hull
I think Tsegay will fall off in the last lap and quit mentally for a pretty low placing.
What happened to Bol? That was an uncharacteristic performance from her. Did she go out too fast the first 200m causing her to fade in the final 100m or so? Would be interesting to see her 100m splits from this race and her 51.30 PR (not counting the altitude aided 50.95).
Feels like the 110h hurdles is one of the few events to have not really progressed since the 1990s, still scratching around the 13s mark every cycle. Why?
For someone of Holloway's ability, he should be running 12s consistently. Instead, we usually see 13s. Well at least he won gold, something I didn't expect to see him do.
What are you talking about? This year, including rounds, Holloway has gone:
there's an easier solution: don't make mask wearing such a stigma. If Lyles had been traipsing around with a mask for the last week during his travels, his chance of covid drops.
Not by much. Masks aren't as efficacious as we want to believe they are.
Yeah only like 90% and not the 100% we want to believe. Problem of course is you need the infect person to wear the mask not the person hoping to avoid infection.
I mean, it's dogsh*t on pretty much every platform. The amount of background ads and crap that force the pages to reload makes it feel like I'm in 1998.
