I don't think anyone is "forced" to torture prisoners, break kneecaps, or execute bound captives.

If it seems I am singling out Ukraine war crimes, it's because everyone already acknowledges and condemns Russian war crimes. While you and everyone else seems to think a litany of Ukraine war crimes either does not exist (even though filmed and shared) or are just fine with it.

We're making progress, though. You seem to acknowledge being a hypocrite.

People care more about the misdeeds of murderous aggressors than people defending their homelands. That is a fact. It does not mean the defenders' misdeeds are excused.

This is basic stuff. You can't even bring yourself to say that Russia is bad. All you can do it talk about Ukraine.

"Serendipitous", is a good word to describe what is going on right now in Ukraine. Neither Trump or Biden was smart enough to think this war would be a good idea. But guess who did? Putin. And now the West via Ukraine have the chance to finally set Russia back to a second or third rate power amongst Nations.

And Russia was not “forced” to invade Ukraine. In fact, they could single-handedly end the war by admitting that they illegally annexed Crimea back in 2014, acknowledging that Luhansk and Donetsk are part of Ukraine, and remove all their troops from Ukraine. You seem focused on the jus in bello, while ignoring the jus ad bellum.

I would be happy if everyone acknowledged and condemned Russian war crimes, but there’s a vocal contingent on LRC (e.g., Carmine9) that labels anything suggesting that Russian troops are committing war crime as “Western propaganda”.

Russian soldiers were useless, inept cowards during WWII. Pretty much the same as they are now.

These twits on here celebrating the destruction of Mariupol only highlight Russian military incompetence. 82 days into a war, and Russian finally occupies a city 30 miles from the Russian border, losing thousands of troops and major military equipment in the process. Not exactly forward projection of power. When is the retreat scheduled for?

This is an atrocity, on a level approximating the worst of WWII, systematically carried out by the 64th Infantry Battalion, which, after slinking away like the vermin they are, Putin awarded with elevated "Guards" status, to seal his approval and condoning of mass slaughter of civilians, along with other rape and terrorism.

Anyone who sides with these monsters can go to hell.

Fled Kharkiv like cowards. Another city around 30 miles from the Russian border. The Russian military is just miserable. You'd have to think the odds are around 50-50 (fifty-fifty) that the Russians will flee Mariupol in the coming months. There have a tendency to do that. Flee, that is.

And I really don't get this Russian practice of leaving their dead soldiers lying around where they fell. I can't imagine there is any country that doesn't make returning their war dead home a military priority. Except Russia. I guess Russians don't even care about themselves. Russians aren't normal people with normal human emotions, like grief, pride, love, and compassion. It's weird, Downie.

I don't get why some of you can't admit you hate or dislike America.

This is like saying the Ukraine could single-handedly end the war by just surrendering. Or NATO could by disbanding.

Crimea was in Russian/Soviet control for 225 of the last 248 years. Russians lost roughly a million defending Sevastopol in WW2.

If you believe their election was remotely democratic, Crimea's citizens voted overwhelmingly (97%) in favour or rejoining Russia in 2014.
