One solution to this is to use the Training Forum as your launching point rather than the Main Forum page. You still often see a fair amount of trolling (and often a lack of decorum) within any thread, but you can at least cut down on a lot of the totally irrelevant threads.

There are really two separate issues here. The first is the facts surrounding the cheating and death of Mr. Meza. There is information to suggest he cheated and information to suggest he committed suicide. Beyond that, all is speculation, which does not prevent anyone from, well, speculating.
The second and larger (culturally, not related to an actual death) is the way this board operates. From my perspective it has been a blight and an embarrassment for at least a decade. It is the wild frontier of posting boards, where no one moderates much of anything, much here has nothing to do with running, and trolls abound. Id rules the day. I used to come here until it became unbearable, returned recently, and am set to depart again as nothing has changed at all in the intervening years. Really, so much here is horrid and an attitude of "If you don't like it, don't come" is an insufficient answer to the kind of asinine trolling too many people engage in. There are 180 comments on wejo's thread about moderating the board. What the hell has changed as a result? Look at this Meza thread. It's depressing.
Here are current threads on the main board. None have to do with, y'know, running:
Down goes the Dow
Could the US have won a war against Russia in the 1980s?
Best song ever
Official LRC President Donald Trump thread
Interviewed by local TV in Canada about Trump flag
Is it weird to do homework at a bar?
BET billionaire Robert E Johnson has said democrats have gone too far to the left.
Common link here is that they are all designed to bring out the trolls.
If you want to keep these idiot threads, create a new board section and call it non-running related so that people go there to up everyone else's angst. But keep them off the main board. Letsrun has earned the reputation that Outside mentioned. It could be so much more.
