POTUS will be in for a shock when he realizes that his fringe advisors/campaign aides (Roger Stone, Carter Page, etc.) as well as his campaign chairman (Manafort) have Russian contacts. It was smart to keep him in the dark so he has plausible deniability, but it makes him look like a fool when he completely denies any relationship between members of his campaign and Russian citizens.

This reality is a far cry from the narrative of "Trump and his BFF Putin conspired to hack into voting machines", which some people desperately want to be true, but if the focus was kept on Manafort, Stone and a couple others I think the investigation would be much more effective.

There is no plausible deniability. Trump is on tape as well. It's going to get chaotic and very unsettling for the GOP and the country as a whole. It will take longer than we'd like, but Trump is going down. BIGLY.

Maybe. Maybe not. It could be as boring as plain Statecraft on Russia's part. You only need to wave a few dollars in front of Trump to get him to agree to anything. There is nothing illegal about Trump getting paid by Russians. Unless there are taxation issues that arise as a result. Which, will be a nice, slow, drip of controversy.
