ask ben to ask him and see what he can do
I like danielle.
who?
its a poor state of athletics in this country when there are no juniors in the race (despite the fact that there is a 10,000m at the euro juniors) and only a couple of u23s. people this age would have no problem running a 10k on the road or 10k cross country, so why dont they get out there on the track which is where you should run quickest?
Because none of them have run the qualifying time, nor do they get the opportunity to do so on the track until later in the season at Stretford.
Carey and Goose should be in the race IMO
They had the opportunity at the inter counties - none bothered to race it though!
perhaps get the UKA words of wisdom on this at the SMC seminar on 18/7 where this sort of issue is v much on the agenda.
With not many exceptions I think that GB and Euro senior greats at 10k haven't done 10k track events as Juniors, so absence of U20s in track 10ks poss more about long term planning than lack of guts or whatever.
Mo Farah yet to debut at track 10k and hasn't done too badly from deferring.

i predict heavy rain and strong winds, therefore blowing any chance of fast times out the window
Forecast is for showers, winds of 8-10 miles per hour and a temp of mid-upper 50's at time of 10ks
I dont think that Carey and Goose are missing much by not doing this race, i doubt either would be able to run the qualifying time for their age group so it would be a waste of time. Both would probably be around 31mins and possibly under it, so they would be doing 25 laps for no reason. And they wouldnt be able to get in the race also because they havent ran the qualifying time for the race.
I'm sure they'd be able to get into the race if they wanted to, if they spoke to the right people!
I think people underestimate how tough 10k on the track is, if I was a junior as promising as Carey or Goose I wouldn't be doing a track 10k.
I can understand people questioning why our good juniors aren't running them when you see people like Galen Rupp running such amazing times in the US but historically the best runners in the UK have not run 10k's as juniors and that includes Brown, Keska, Foster etc... only one I can think of who ran 10k's very young and had a long career is Dave Black. Even when Brown was at university in the States he was a 1500/5k runner, just because we have a ton of Africans running well at 18/19/20 doesn't mean we should be following their example, most 18/19/20 year olds in this country are not physically mature and look considerably younger. Runners like Rupp are one in a million.
Has anyone been to the Euro U20 champs since Bingley's Matthew Watson in 1999? Richard Ward had a crack at the time and missed it a couple of years later despite running close to 8 flat in the 3k.
I know that most of this board's attentions will be on the men's race because they all seem to be running it or know someone who either is or isn't running it. It doesn't take too much to see that the wome's race is of high class and some pretty fast times might come out of it.
Any predictions on the Pavey, Yelling, Yelling and all the others orders??
womens is good up front, only 9 starters is poor
NINE??????????????
WHAT A JOKE!
weather forecast still same, about 60F, 11 mph winds and rain.
do you know which 9 women are running ?
What was the entry standard time for the women, was it too high so only 9 could get in ?
is mellor running?
