For you racists against "transplant" americans, what's the native nationalities that you consider "true" american? Or what's the cut-off year to immigrate to the US? Since everyone had family immigrate here at some point (not counting native americans), when year do you consider the cut off to be a "true" american????
It’s got nothing to do with racism. How can it be racism when I am a big fan of many African American athletes?
That said, I don’t like it when foreign born runners come over for the express purpose of running and take over spots that might go to what you call “true Americans”. I define true Americans as American citizens developed within the US system from when they started running. Nuguse from Norte Dame and James Muanga (sp? Gonzaga) fit that description even though they are naturalized.
I’m not a fan when they are identified in their home countries as gifted runners and come here as such, either recruited to run college or join the army. They are ringers in that regard. Kerati and Chelimo, for example. I’m sure they are nice and decent people but ...
This isn’t limited to the US. My own home country (yes, I’m an immigrant) has been recruiting foreign born athletes to represent the country in international competition and I find that distasteful. Distance event at the Asian Games are now being won by African transplants. Yuck.
