Where is Savannah State listed as D2?
JJ is hiring two distance assistants from the Bay Area. Neither needs to see campus and just waiting on HR to finalize things.

Any info on who those assistants might be?
Tennessee Tech job will go to Peter Dolan of Univ Tenn Martin. He is a distance coach, he will keep current sprint coach Whitney Fountain.

For which groups?
It is the 5th. What happened to announcements on the 1st? If I were a gambler, i'd bet on Terry.
Two distance assistants...??♂️

And it doesnt matter what you all think of JJ's distance coaching or program management skills. The kids that go to Stanford do not care who the coach is.
It may not matter as much to the kids that are already at Stanford and don't want to transfer, but it will DEFINITELY have an impact on who will choose to go there in the future. If Stanford were to drop the XC program completely you would not see everyone on the roster stay so it is not a 100% academic decision for everyone on the roster.
Some recruits will go elsewhere. I know of at least one top 10-20 XC athlete from this year's high school class who has already said they are not considering Stanford because of JJ.
That's nice. The other 19 will still take visits to Stanford and half of them will go there because their parents told them to. And I didn't mean to imply Stanford will drop the XC program...JJ IS a XC coach.
FIU just posted for an assistant. Looks like throws.

Isn’t the head coach the throws coach?

She’s the throws coach. Ed Loyd was the Jumps coach.

You guys don't understand, my teammate committed suicide because of the conditions and pressures that Jenkins put on him. And I didn't give a sh** that I didn't have new gear, I was glad to be considered to race. I was upset when I got yelled at for not having the correct gear even though they were the ones who wouldn't give it to me. I did raise money for the team. Every year we had to raise money and I raised the most every year, I didn't expect anything from it other than hoping it would help the team. And I would have loved to run more than one race at a meet, I would very nearly die for my team everyone. I find it hilarious that you think you know anything about me, calling me some 15:35 male 5k. Couldn't be further from the truth. I get that NCAA is cut-throat, so if people want to treat it like a business then treat it that way, I get it, but if you do don't go around pretending like you care and telling others how much you care. Just be honest and maybe don't break NCAA compliance rules while you're at.
Sorry to hear about your teammate.
I don't think you'll find another coach in the country, that knows Jenkins and will agree with your statement about your teammate's suicide over the pressure placed on him from Jenkins.
There's far more to this story than you can explain and we will ever understand. Still, this is yet another prime example of how soft, entitled, coddled, torn, alone, separated today's student athletes have become in comparison to a decade or two or three ago.
To place blame on Jenkins is highly unreasonable and for arguments sake, if your friend couldn't handle the pressure of the team I can guarantee life does not get any easier after college.
Parents and recruits take note; all your practice with drills and/or countless hours of studying mean nothing if you cannot handle adversity. It's only getting harder. Good luck.
A decade or two or three ago? No. I had a tough time in college 10+ years ago, so have many, many friends who ran a lot longer ago than that. The difference is that the internet and social media is way more prevalent now, so instead of suffering in silence, athletes are sharing and reaching out more about their struggles. If being educated, aware and supportive are not qualities you seek in an athlete, then you need to reconsider your career.
It says assistant to the head coach. So probably helping him with the throwers
Gabe will do a great job there. Seen solid success at previous schools
You mean WKU not EKU. We are waiting on who our staff will be. Word is not one of our coaches will return.

Actually, you are mistaken here. The schools you are talking about have high admission standards, but each sport is given a certain number of waivers for athletes who do not meet the standards. Rice, for example, has six waiver slots for women’s track and six for men’s track. The football and basketball teams have more waiver slots than the track program, but there are not different admission standards for a waiver slot in football than for a waiver slot in track and field- they are all discretionary.
I have heard that Stanford has considerably more waiver slots for its track program than Rice (22 for each gender) The waiver numbers are independent from the NCAA scholarship limits (12.5 men, 16.5 women)
I thought Jim only had 3 waivers for women at Rice. And it’s not a “free for all” .... there’s still a minimum that those people have to meet to be admitted which is still above “normal” State University standards.
