What's your motive here, exactly? Genuine question. Ours is obvious, but why are you championing this bloke? For attention or because you actually believe he's doing what he's saying?
to me it seems like the motive is to get people to do something constructive rather than calling him out on Strava, writing a sternly worded letter or participating in this circle jerk we have here. all of which which achieve nothing while Goodge continues on his merry way.
also, I have not seen that poster champion Goodge once.
It’s widely argued that violence is never morally justified. I don’t condone throwing rocks through anyone’s windows.
[Tedious and sanctimonious rant snipped]
Look at any cheating threads that I listed earlier and you will find any number of people exactly like you railing against people correctly pointing out problems with the claims of running performances made. What you all have in common is you are wrong. What you also have in common is an inability to learn from the past.
In other news, turns out Goodge isn't the only English influencer up to no good on a coast to coast run down in Oceania. Russ Cook has been looking dodgy too.
You dont even have to go that far, look at him at 9:25.
Hes supposedly just finished 110km, has no problem at all bending over and painting a line on the road(zero stiffness) and looks like he jogged 5 easy miles.
I didn't waste my time watching the whole thing. Just zapping through it a little bit. Anybody who has watched multiday runners running can see that this guy is a total scam artist.
P.S. This thread reminds me of some of the ones on Lance Armstrong from way back in the day. The cult of personality around Armstrong was so deep and profound that many of the adherents kept on fighting even AFTER he got busted.
Had Goodge been caught, and people continued to defend him, that would be a great basis for comparison. But Goodge hasn't been caught, so there's no similarity at all.
I'm talking about the time between when the circumstantial evidence around Armstrong was so overwhelming (the alleged anonymous positive and all his former teammates going down) and any reasonable person could see the truth, and when he was actually nailed.
With Goodge, we're well into the "circumstantial evidence is overwhelming" phase and there are still a lot of you unwilling to budge. This is where the cult of personality kicks in-- the belief in the athlete's inherent goodness and the desire for "positivity", etc. I think a lot of fans wanted Armstrong left alone even when they knew he was probably dirty, because of his story, and the whole "cancer-Jesus" schtick he and Nike and built up. This would explain why they continued to defend him even after he was busted. And I predict Goodge-heads will likewise point to "all the good he did" when he finally goes down.

Goodge says "i don't have my HR on this watch" (his COROS Vertix 2s...) in his latest video (from 19:55) implying that he uses his WHOOP for HR data. even though it's a built in feature of the watch and we've already seen a screenshot from his video of his watch displaying a live heart rate of 121 and 122 while sitting down at the end of his run. Then in this artilhe says 'I'll be wearing my Coros [fitness] watch, and I'll have my Whoop for data on Strava …" But to my knowledge WHOOP does not natively connect to a COROS watch as an external HR monitor. So if this were the case he would be downloading his WHOOP HR data online and merging it with his COROS data using a third party software..? Odd.
Ultrarunner and male model William Goodge's audacious attempt to become the fastest person to run 4000km across Australia has been overshadowed by ongoing cheating allegations.
You can tell from the footage Goodge didn't feel comfortable with the random Aussie runner dude hanging around for too long
Yeah, he looks desperate for a break and can't wait to get off his feet asap. Doesn't even get up to shake the guys hand when saying bye, just stretches forward a bit.
In start contrast to how freah he looked when bending over after 110k, as someone else pointed out.
It must have been hard graft for Goodge to have to run 7k at a reasonable pace without a break.

Unless there is a VERY good explanation for this pointless and labor intensive detour with his tracking tech, he should be considered busted. If ANY attempt at data manipulation can be proven, the whole thing must be thrown out. Because why fiddle data AT ALL on a legit effort?

For all those saying wrist based HR is unreliable. It's worth noting that Whoop has been one of WG sponsors. So now we know why "tech fail" is no longer an excuse given by the Goodge Camp for the strange HR. Cannot bite the hand that feeds you. It does make one wonder how the whole tech part of this is architected. How something so simple like running and tracking running can be made so complex is a real head scratcher.

I was just about to make a similar post. It must be the tech sponsors that have told him to ditch the tech fail excuse. Now he just claims to have superhuman fitness instead.
Jumping from one story to a completely different one to explain the heart rate is damning enough evidence that this guy is lieing through his teeth.
Clearly he meant he doesn’t have the HR as screen viewable metric. You can customise the watch faces. Think you’re all trying to find something that isn’t there again.
That bit in the video with the HR on linked in the picture here is when you finish an activity on a Corus watch. You then can end or resume it. It’s not a main screen display that bit.

And in Goodge's own words: "I appreciate that there is a higher burden of proof when you say you're going for an actual record."
