Was Bol out too fast? I expected her to try to come from behind, but she was nearly even with SML for the first half of the race. She was trying to run 50-point, couldn't do it, and ran 52-low. Cockrell was incredible, as of course was SML.
Yes.
Bol's recent races leading up to Paris got her ready to match SML for the first 200, which she did tonight.
But, was completely bankrupt from hurdle 8 on.
Best Femke go back to running within herself for the first half of the race and not try to run SML's race. It's gotten her down to 50.95. Likely, she can go a bit faster on the DL circuit.
After seeing how well SML, Cockrell and Jones did tonight, US women should run away with the 4x400 relay. Looking forward to seeing Thomas on that team. And, possibly take down USSR's 3:15 WR.
Expecting both SML & Bol to run sub-48 anchors. Likely, Kratochvilova's 47.7 all time best relay split will be bettered.
