57 COVID deaths in GA today: Post-opening spike starting?

Anybody can file. I'm fully employed and I can file. Doesn't mean I will get benefits.

So if you decide not to go to work, you are stuck in limbo. You might get unemployment and you might not. Someone living paycheck to paycheck is not going to take that chance.

So as it stands, people are forced to go back to work in possibly dangerous conditions.

Now we see who Fat Hurts really is: A tin foil hat conspiracy theorist (or troll).

The elite created this pandemic to gain more power over us and make themselves richer. Isn’t that right.

What I find interesting in watching these protests recently, most of the protesters are white. Looks like white guilt is taking over and black people just sitting back and ......

Of course, a simple Google search shows that there have been lots of counter-protests.

If you go looking hard enough you can certainly find what you are looking for.

The only counter-protest I have seen (without searching) consisted of one white teenager waving a Trump flag. And he ended up getting arrested.

BTW, now I remember where I read that info about hospitalizations. It's in the explanation of the data from GA DPH:

2. “Hospitalizations”: This number includes the confirmed COVID-19 cases that were hospitalized at the time the case was reported to DPH or when the case was interviewed. This number does not capture hospitalizations that occur after a confirmed case was reported and, as such, is likely an underestimation of actual hospitalizations. It does not represent the number of COVID-19 cases currently hospitalized.

That makes it really hard to understand what is happening with hospitalizations. It's not very useful in determining the current state of affairs.

Seriously, why do you think I would bother learning so much about the Georgia data if I didn't live here?

I am from Georgia and I stand by my posts. They are my own opinion. I get it that you don't share my views on the connection between COVID and the BLM marches. It's not an opinion that can be easily proven or disproven.

But surely you agree that something as pervasive as the COVID crisis has some kind of effect on other events like the BLM marches? We just disagree about the degree.

And as for the effect COVID is having on the BLM marchers, the early data in Georgia is not looking good.

I was hoping that the marches would prove that outdoor transmission is really difficult and rare. But the early data looks troubling. According to the graph we've been discussing, the first 4 days of June are starting to look bad. And because these are numbers on the far right of the graph, it is expected that they will go higher for each of those dates.

If I'm counting right, June 1st is three days after the first night of protests. That's around the time the first patients would start to see symptoms from exposure on May 29th.
