Well I did not own any NB shoe before so I’m not sure if my observations will be in line with other people’s who have more experience with them.
But they are definitely not narrow, I have rather wide feet and so far they work great for me. I tried a few other models in the store today, and the 880 was closest in fit I would say. I felt the Propel actually was a bit narrower.
I bought a pair of FuelCell TC and have run about 30 miles in them. They are bottom-heavy and do not have the spring of other carbon-plated racing flats. At best, these are appropriate for longer tempo runs and perhaps marathons, if you need extra cushioning. They ain’t a racing flat. Also, they aren’t narrow. I have narrow feet and need to cinch the laces quite a bit to get a good fit.
You are right that they are definitely not pure racing shoes. I don’t have a comparison with others in terms of “springyness”. However I did two of my standard runs in them and in the TCs I was about 5% faster, at a similar perceived effort. It actually looked like my heart right was slightly lower than in other shoes at a 5% slower pace.
Do they have a heel counter that stuffs your achilles like all their other shoes?
