How durable are these shoes? Are they good for more than one race?

Slow? For someone on the high side of 40? Yes, there have been a few who've gone faster but that is not a slow time for someone that age. For example, Ron Hill did "hang on." I believe he had the record that Davies broke and it was 2:15 something.

Check the clock next to the girl, that's a three, so probably 39:45, so he should be happy (doesn't look it though), Nike promised him he'd break 40 for 5k and he did.

Dude is heavy and probably needs a maximally cushioned shoe to make it through a marathon.

His choices are a $180, 13oz maximal trainer, or a $250 7oz shoe that is probably better cushioned and is definitely much faster.

Which would you choose?

Nevermind, looks like it isn't a marathon.

I see so many people wearing these in 5k's now. I honestly don't think they're any faster in anything less than a half marathon, anybody race in them and disagree? They're also a pain trying to turn sharp corners at speed.

I honestly don’t have a problem with this. Yes the guy is a Clydesdale, but good for him to be pounding the pavement in his 80s. And at his age he shouldn’t have any debt, so it’s cool for him to splurge. If it makes him happy to run a couple of seconds per mile faster, then it is money well spent.

Exactly. That previous record was set 5 years. and new record holder had just started to get serious about training. It would be more of a shock if he DIDN'T improve.
