Drop 3, add 1: I searched RW for “Boston 7” If in fact they dropped 3 and added 2, it would still lead me to believe they were cost-cutting, although not as much.
The Drop 1 Add 3 was hypothetical; just giving the opposite example of the Boston situation.
Fwiw, NB released a new color of the Beacon even with the Beacon 2 on the horizon. Take that for what it’s worth.
Quick tips: Running Warehouse doesn't sell every shoe adidas makes, and you still don't know how to count. Even going to RW and searcing for Boston 7, they only dropped 2 colors there (and adidas added two colors as shown in the link I shared from adidas's website).
Dropping 1 and adding 3 is a weird time to provide a hypothetical when we have an actual. Beacon dropped 1 and added 1. Or on the women's side: dropped 2 and added 2...hey! just like the Boston! (Discountinued: orange and blue, released: pink and teal)
Actually....I just looked at Road Runner Sports. They actually have a THIRD new Boston 7 color (white). So now we're at 2 discontinued and 3 new colors for the Boston 7 on the men's side. Yeah...they're definitely abandoning the product.

Fair enough.
To the OP: I would like to revise my original post: The New Balance Beacon is lighter, better cushioned, and less expensive than the Boston. Beacon by a mile.
