Troop may not be a brain surgeon, but every time I've heard Thweatt interviewed she comes across as seeming high strung and not very mature or intelligent, at least compared with a lot of her competitors. This move just kind of confirms that. We wouldn't have heard of her if not for Troop, he made her relevant as a post-collegiate. No sub-2:30 marathons, no US teams, no track OT, not even any club cross wins. She gets herself injured a lot and it's the coach that's the problem? At some point you should grow up and learn to take care of yourself. Of course, adulting is hard for today's 20somethings…
Lee WILL be back. Laura may or may not be back. I guarantee that within 2 years Lee will be coaching someone better than Laura and Laura will be jealous. It’s almost like a bad divorce the wife gets older and the husband moves on. I’ve seen this scenario before.
To be fair Lee had said long before this that he planned to move on from coaching and go back to Australia in 2020, maybe she is thinking longer term and this seemed like a good jumping off place.
Regardless of what transpired I hope that this is nothing but a speed bump in both of their lives and that they both go on to find loads more success and happiness in whatever they choose to pursue.

Don't you beotches have more relevant and important things to do? Jealous much? Lee and Laura have done very well. Lee has had a rough year but has also transitioned into an enthusiastic race director. Laura had a brilliant marathon debut a couple years ago but has struggled. Nevertheless, this year's 1:10 half is solid. Hopefully, she'll be back.

This is absolutely true, as she had a long history of being injury prone before Troop. Instead of thinking POOR coaching caused injuries, the opposite could be true, that GOOD coaching allowed her to achieve what she did while constantly getting injured.
You are all couch coaches and cynics with very little insight into the true personalities/dynamic of what their relationship was like, what Lee was like as a coach, what Thweatt is like as an athlete, and the circumstances that may have given them success or caused their split other than what you see painted in front of you as social media snapshots. It's easy to sit on a high horse and point fingers when the context to which your opinion is based is being spoon-fed to you. Confirmation bias at its finest.
Laura is like the female Ritz. Constantly injured, but if they can string together 8-12 weeks of uninterrupted training, still capable of amazing things. It just shows you how talent never goes away and how important it is at the top level of this sport.
What's with everyone saying how injury prone thweatt is? She's not really. She battled an unusual pelvis injury with a prolonged healing time over the last year, came back training for Chicago and hurt her Achilles or something. Marathon training is no joke, especially after a long layoff. Other than her pelvis issue she has been amazingly consistent. She's not really being any more "injury prone" than the next runner, and less so than many.
She should join Mammoth TC.

Does she currently have any training partners? Emma C's group may not have any true distance runners, but it still seems like a better setup than Laura has now.
