I have an ipod shuffle and love it for running. It has no screen and is slightly bigger than a starburst candy. Picked up for $10, downloaded the smashing pumpkins, Deftones, etc. It has a clip. You can create any number of playlists or alblums, and the only option is shuffle, so you have to make small playlists if you want to hear something specific. No issue for me, mine are long. Also, It has no screen and is built entirely of metal, so no worries about breaking it.
Best way to listen to music or podcasts while running? with your phone or without?

My daughter was attacked in LA while running with headphones. It was getting dark and the guy sneaked up on her. She scratched his face and got away and the cops arrested him. They went to court and the judge let him go despite the perp visibly showing her scratch marks.
