Didn't I win the Big 8 decathlon once?
Not sure you did Wilt...but you had a heck of high jump and shot put (& 400m too).
Classmates with Al Oerter as well - probably got some good discus advice.
In order for one of these NBA players to be a decathlete - they'd have to be able to pole vault.
In my opinion, that would disqualify a vast majority of NBA players - especially those on the top end of the height spectrum.
Then, you have to go with who appears to have the best balance, speed, and body agility (and craziness) to attempt a pole vault. It's probably not any of the starters on any team, and is probably someone who's on the bench.
If it was a starter, I'd go with Lillard or Westbrook. I think they'd have enough guts to try out the pole vault. Lebron would be good in the sprints and throws, but I think would suffer in the 1500, hurdles, and long jump.
Let's turn it around - are their any decathletes that could make an NBA team?
Anybody remember the "Superstars" competitions of the 70s? When athletes from different sports would compete against each other? That should be updated...I think it'd be fun to watch.
