Actually, my college training was what improved me during college. My high school work wasn't good enough to run D1, nor did it contribute that much to it IMO, but I responded extremely well to the collegiate training. Just put in the work, and maybe talk to your coach for feedback. My coach normally ignored me for the big stars on the team, but was extremely receptive and helpful when visited during office hours.

I have had the chance to watch and race against rob finnerty, he was for sure an 8th grade prodigy. That falls he was pretty good already had run like 17:30 in cross, but in the spring he really started to roll, by the state meet he took like 5 or 6th i think and had run 9:23 for a 3200. That time right there could get you into many DI schools, as a frosh he ran 15:40's taking 11th at midwest footlocker, 9:06 and 4:16, and i can't wait to see what he runs this year!

I'm in 8th grade, and I can kick any of your skinny asses.

Nah, that was someone else. Honestly I've never given my PR's because of the bashing in here, but was a solid D1 runner, no more. My college was good enough to be a conference fringe contender, and I'm proud of it.

But I will say that if college took 8 years, I would've continued improving every year. The training was great. 75 miles/week, good tempos, thresholds, long repeats on the XC and hill work. We did it all.

donny ran a 4:24.x and 9:33 in outdoor track. Will he continue to improve or will everyone else just catch him?

yea its very important for younger runners to look at how physically mature they are. I personally am 15 (11th grade)and have been mistaken for being 13.On the topic of Charles White I hear he has been running fairly high mileage for some time and I dont know how drastically he will improve because there isnt any where he can go mileage wise.

Jippers Bronfman ran 4:17 in 5th grade for the mile, quit track, and has come back as an 8th grader. Today he ran a 3:57 mile in cc practice.

a guy named Pre ran 5 01 in 9th grade and 4 32 in 10th grade. then ended up being the greastest american distance runner of all time. the point is, some people get better later in there lives and those people are usually the ones that still like running when there in there 20's because they have improved alot more than kids running 4 30 in middle school and then only 4 15 in high school.

I guess greatest is relative for you, because almost all of his AR's have been broken. And I don't care that he died early and "could have been even better," the fact remains that he did what he did and it's not good enough to keep many AR's.
