Best way to “wipe” on a run

I deal with this almost every run during the summer when I’m running 6am or earlier. Get biodegradable camping toilet paper, fold a little up in your running shorts- and off you go. I also only run trails so it’s easy to find a tree, and subesequentlg a stick to cover it.

You could just pull up your shorts when you’re done then deliver your shorts into your crack and wipe. It would be better to have poo poo on the inside of your shorts rather than on your buttskin. Only downside is a possible visible streak on the outside depending on short color.

1. Carry t.p. in your shorts

2. Snowballs, use ridges in them from fingers

3. Steal someone's newspaper

4. Rock

5. Leaves

First off, if this happening so frequently that you need to plan for it, there is a problem. For the average runner, this will happen less than a half dozen times in an entire career. Who plans for something that might happen every couple of years. My recommendation is poop before you run and learn from the times it has happened. And, why wipe at all, poop, finish your run, avoid interacting with people and head straight to the shower.

I once had really bad two Bob bits on a run and could not stand to put my shorts back on as they were in such a state. I proceeded to run the last 2 miles without shorts, constantly pulling my tee shirt down below my hips. It was a night run so thought it was worth the risk. Wife caught me washing out my shorts out in the garden with my wiener out. Required some mansplaining

Moss may be good functionally, but at a chemical or biological level I would not recommend using anything organic. What if there’s a bug or larvae in there? Inanimate objects, rocks, etc sound better.

Are you kidding? Less than half a dozen times in a career?

When running 110 per week and doing daily morning runs it is quite frequent, in my case almost daily. Never thought of it as a problem, more of a natural thing.

This is why it's important to know where all porta-potties are within 5 miles of your house. Anywhere workers are outside, there is a potty. Usually unlocked, unless you're in a big city.

When I run early AM pre-poop, I always circle the dog park 1-mile loop until show time.

And, always carry TP in a baggie.

My first ever in-run poop was memorable. I felt so awful, such a sinner. Had to use my shirt, a car drove by, and I still remember the exact location every time I run by it. The next two years I laid one down on just about every tree along a particular trail. Then I realized there are available potties with paper, and it was a game changer.

You are the exception then. There have been instances where I have had food poisoning or sickness kick in on a long run. It is not pleasant. Most times I have been able to find a public restroom in the city or a tree in the woods. In the woods you can usually find something to get by with (moss, leaves, etc.) but there are times one has to make do with a shirt or a sock. One time I had food poisoning kick in while I was canoeing and was glad that I had left some of the kids baby wipes in my pack. They are the best if you have some with you.

I've run upwards of 90 mpw, been running for 20+ years, and have never, ever needed to poop on a run. A couple times I've realized I should have pooped before I left because on the run I felt the familiar sensations that I needed to, but it's not hard to hold until you get home. Are you guys all cursed with dysentery?

The polite thing to do if you are going to take a deuce in someone's front yard is to use their newspaper to wipe with and then pick it up with the bag it came in. For god's sake people have some decency.

In a way I’m jealous, but on the flip side you never get to experience the euphoria of letting that devil escape. The next mile is truly magical.
