Hi Everyone. This is Neil Whitlock, Ed's son.
Just want to thank everyone for their kind words about Dad.
Dad was a big fan of the Letsrun community. He loved reading through the message boards. He would often walk into the kitchen where Mom was watching the news. She would say "did you hear about ... some random world event" and he would reply "yes, that was posted on Letsrun hours ago."
In whatever way my father might have inspired some of you with your running, I hope you are able to hold onto that and wish everyone success and enjoyment in striving for your goals.

I am a proud conservative that will always vote Republican. This tweet does not in any way indicate a pro or negative on Trumps policies. It says that he is too negative. I agree with that. Why is everyone so quick to judge others? I also think that sports talk and this board tend to be way too negative.
If we disagree with someone it turns into name calling. Why? I respect turning a cheek and walking away if I disagree. It tends to be a healthier approach. I don't watch CNN or MSNBC because I disagree with their slant on things, but that doesn't make it fake news. Name calling is immature and juvenile. Walking away is a sign of maturity. Good for hansonsrun for recognizing this.
In addition to Desire Davila/Linden, Brian Sell made the 2008 US Olympic marathon team as a Hanson's athlete.
The Sage Canady book "Running with the Hanson's" gives a good profile of the Hansons training program (and experience) of their club team.

I know there are probably several other American developmental groups that have a better marathon list but this isn't bad.
They are getting there and do have some talented hard working runners. I truly believe Boston '18, with fair weather, will yield very good results. I'm not on the club and have never ran for the club, but I do think this will be a decent year for them.
