The OP's cocky comment makes no sense.
Soccer and basketball are aerobic sports, but are not boring. You're constantly moving in different directions and interacting with others. This might be where Rupp is coming from with his boring "running is boring" comment, considering he seems to love soccer. I don't disagree with him to a certain extent. I do think running around the Nike campus and on weird treadmills would be boring. Maybe he needs to find some gnarly trails or something :)
He should try a regular job you don't get to have a nice nap at 10:30 and most of the afternoon watching TV.

I don’t do anything near high mileage but still absolutely live for the track work. Maybe this inclination separated the hobbier joggers from the hobbiest?

Why is it so hard to read a statement and understand it.
Rupp did not way winning a silver or bronze medal was boring. He said the daily life of a professional distance runner is boring. And it is. You're life revolves around your daily workouts and getting rest. Period.
Even when you are traveling for meets, it's boring. You are not out sightseeing a enjoying the location, you are resting up for the race, recovering, getting your next good workout's in.
The races are exciting - everything in between is not.
It's the same for cyclists as well. Even doping ones.

KB has his hotel and track business, kipchoge has a family and his crew of runners, and lots of other kenyans have farms and sh*t like that. what the f*ck does rupp do? he used to play vid games and touch tips with mo and centro, but now what? am run, sleep, pm run, sleep.....yeah that sounds really lame and boring.
he should be trying to make a signature shoe, going to run and train in different places, meeting up with other "pros" to do training runs together, test driving some super pricey sports car, hiking a 14er....something, anything...but no he is boring in life as he is in his races.
i predict his wife leaves him in the next 4 yrs

If you think training at a high level in distance running is just about the time you are actually running, you have a strong misconception of the sport pass standard hobby jogging (if that)

I think we all agree the daily routine of logging miles can be boring especially at an elite level and into your 30's without a real break.
For most of us, high school , college and little post college and then onto maybe club running or fitness maintenance.

"take care of all the little things" - if this is the way you see/summarize your life beyond running, no wonder "it's boring as hell."
Rupp clearly says the “training†for the marathon, which involves a great deal of repetitive distance running, is boring. This is not cocky at all!
He does not say running 26:44 is a “yawn†- you said that.
Admit it and pull your head out. A grown woman calling herself a “runner girl†is more cocky than what Rupp said. You’re stupid and cocky.
