We know our scientists are lying to us.
Science, hmph. I went to the best schools and got the best grades, so I know all science is fake just like the news. I have hugest success in science. I discovered that exercise is bad, so that alone should convince the fake scientists that global warming is bad. All you people and your running, your batteries are going to die soon and you will be dead. Meanwhile I will maintain my tan and continue to golf and still have the most best physique.

The data in that chart are 'adjusted' due to a variety of reasons given.
Correct. And those adjustments always decrease the temperature in the '30s and increase them later. Truthful scientists wouldn't have to adjust old data to support alarming predictions this way.

Are you aware that the concern about global warming started because the cause of such (the "why" as you put it) was known? WHY the Earth should be warming has been well known for well over 100 years.
The whole global warming began with the trilobites. They refused to take advantage of solar power for their vehicles and instead overused fossil fuels. The dinosaurs continued this trend for the next few hundred million years, causing the Earth to heat up thousands of times. Then the meteor hit and things turned cold real quick. But then those damn warm blooded mammals just needed to stay warm and so they overused their coal-burning ovens and started the trend again. For the last blink of an eye in geologic time, humans have added a miniscule amount to the problem. Once humans have been here for a few million years then we may start to have an impact.

The Earth is really, REALLY old!
Global warming theory is a hoax by the Chinese and "scientists" because it is based on false assumptions about the age of the earth.
Real conservatives know that the earth has only existed since about 6 pm on October 22, 4004 B.C. Global warming is based on bogus beliefs about the earth being older than that. Recalculate temperature change based on its true age and we might have something to talk about.

Oh, wait....
I voted for Trump and I'm not vehemently opposed.

I'm genuinely curious. I see so many posts on Letsrun from Trumpsters /Republicans who believe that climate change is a hoax, despite the overwhelming scientific evidence to the contrary. Now I get that the notion of global climate change implicates our lifestyles, & nobody wants to give up our fossil-fueled way of life. . . . but is there something else going on? I know I'll get a lot of snarky replies (after all, this is Letsrun), but I'd be very interested to read a well-reasoned, lucid, intelligent rationale as to why climate change is a myth. (One with citations to peer-reviewed scientific articles would be greatly appreciated.)
"Snow will be a rare and unusual event..."
"Children will not know what snow is...."
"The West Side Highway will be underwater by 2010..."
"The California Drought will never end...."
"Polar Bears will be extinct by 2020..."

No, not really. Nobody wants to give up our fossil-fueled way of life, and some people REALLY, REALLY don't want to give it up.
As a result, they have decided that anything implying that they might have to change their way of life CANNOT be true. And the more evidence to the contrary that is presented to them, the STRONGER (not weaker) will be their belief that AGW is a hoax.
In technical terms, this is a "religious" position: one that the person who holds it *cannot* change. Such a person will never change his or her mind--or, at least, will never be persuaded to do so by evidence or reasoning.
Never.
Al Gore just asked for $15 trillion dollars to fight "climate change".
I think that answers the question. Follow the money.
Trumpkins are not smart enough to accept that water versus anything that water always wins.

What's hilarious about all this is the engineers, most executives etc at Exxon and all other big energy companies are NOT stupid; quite the contrary and they know there ** is ** climate change.
What the cause(s) might be can be open to discussion but there's ZERO question that climate changes-- that's where all those fossil fules came from, HELLO.
Trumptards are a whole 'nother level of stupidity and, were it not for air conditioning-- alas-- too stupid to live.

None of the big energy companies would survive if they took a stand against global warming.
Concerning petroleum engineers I know quite a few of them. And they all loathe the global warming alarmists. They do, however, recognize that the climate is constantly changing and that human activity may or may not be a small contributor to this.

In other words you are unable to distinguish between pop culture and science.
No worries, there are many who have the same problem. It seems that the failure of public schools to educate folks in science and math that has been noted for several decades is very real and has very real consequences.

So where did Texas Crude hear the lie that petroleum engineers were on board with Global Warming?

Sally Vv, while you are ostensibly "just stating the facts," could you give me some citations to peer-reviewed scientific papers that support your point?
And what do you think of NASA's own study (by the way, I wouldn't call NASA a group of tree-hugging freaks) which shows a dramatic rise in global temps:
https://climate.nasa.gov/vital-signs/global-temperature/
But the 1870-1920 period is perhaps the coldest period in the last 3,000 years. Westerners thought the wild west and the Australian outback should be settled.
I believe climate change is a real thing. That being said, Obama legislated the heck out of it, and what did he accomplish? US CO2 went down (Bravo!) and the US economy stumbled along. Meanwhile, China and India experienced rapid economic growth (fueled in part by increasing electrical rates in the US) and built coal plants like crazy (China uses 4 times as much coal as the US on an annual basis and is adding the equivalent of 2 600MW coal plants each week). As a result CO2 production on a global scale increased dramatically. Basically, since many of the countries have been termed developing, they have been exempted from many climate accords and have taken advantage of that as one more factor of production in their favor. Steve Bannon summarized it best in an interview shortly before he was fired when he said we are in an "Economic War" with China. The climate accords are just one of the weapons they are using against us.

Those quotes are from climate scientists. And Al Gore, who was 500 votes away from being President. "Pop culture?"
