Gotta say I disagree pretty strongly about the dislike for the Ingebrigtsens. Filip didn't do anything wrong, which is the reason Meechal after seeing the replay decided not to protest.
The same Meechal that missed three (three!) doping tests last year.
Anothinger thing I find interesting is the hate for this family running in a speedsuit. Why doesn't anyone criticise Manangoi for the same? Not a comment.
The Ingebrigtsens are a pretty amazing story. A white family with the father as a coach, with no prior coaching experience nor ever being an athlete, coaching three sons to such a high level. Athletes and coaches from all over the world have sent them messages and support.
And El Keniano: Even the Kenyan athletes are mighy impressed. They said to Filip after the race: "What are you doing? Its insane. You are crazy" for his attempt to go after and beat them in the final. They told him they didn't believe a norwegian could ever do something like that.
I'm highly impressed by Filip in the final. He went for it when the Kenyans ran away early, when nobody else dared. Had the Ingebrigtsens been american I'm sure they would be worshipped in here.
As their father tells, they have different talents. Filip is better physically, Henrik is the strongest mentally. As seen when he trough his youth years always went balls out in every race. At first he was caught and beaten by older runners holding back for the last 200m, but after a while when his condition improved he startet running away from and staying away from his competitors, until at the national level there was nobody even close.
Filip is different, he was always injured and struggled a lot with allergies. He nearly quit running two years ago because of set back after set back. Injuries all over. Even this winter he was far back after an injury last fall, which is the reason he ran so terrible in the European Indoor Championship this year.
Jakob is told to be a mix of them.
