Plus, they are not made to walk in. They are shaped to be on your toes. Walking on them inpacts the mid sole. Favorite shoes are hard to come by. And the stretch easy when you march on them.
My Brother kept and competed in his Azteca Golds from the Mexico Olympics for years. He brought them out on special occasions. They were beautiful shoes.
Sprinters generally train barefoot, so it's only natural for them rid the shoes after a race.
