As someone else said, abortion is quite a bit more common than most realize, it just stays under the radar cause so many idiots point fingers at the girl like she's the devil. Unwanted pregnancies happen so much. My mom didn't believe in abortion, but if it was legal in my grandma's day I'm pretty sure I would not be here.

If you don't want to get pregnant, oral and manual stimulation and anal penetration are the ways to go. My sex life felt complete, and I was a proud Christian.

Not to sound rude but so what if you weren't? The world didn't need you (or me, or anyone in this thread) and you would have never known so who cares? Maybe your parents would have waited until it was more convenient and had a child who group up in better conditions and they would be a happier family than they ever were with you. Or maybe they would have had a child at a different time who died of cancer at age 10 and been miserable the rest of their lives. You can spend a lifetime worrying about things that could have been but it doesn't hold any value.

With a couple hundred women competing at USATF every year that would be 20-40 of them having abortions.

I completely agree with your sentiment on #3. That statement really pissed me off. I am a former D1 runner around her age and I have never had an abortion and I can't think of many who would have. I know several former teammates and competitors that chose to keep unplanned babies and went on to have success in the sport. She is trying to justify her decision by claiming that literally everyone else did it. Two things bother me about this. First she has no business throwing all female track athletes under the bus. I don't want to be implicated to have done something that I would never do. The other issue is that she has no right to essentially call out teammates and associates of hers that may have had an abortion and want to keep that private.

Heard her blabbing about her Christian values, but a late stage abortion proves she puts money and fame first.

1) There is no way it was a late stage abortion as she was competing that year.

2) The fact she is including it in her memoir definitely shows she's out for publicity.

Yes, i understand mistakes are made and then someone might have a difficult choice but how in the world would every track athlete a) get pregnant unintentionally and b) then decide to terminate it?

Maybe that happens to some small percentage. 10-20%. But 100%? My god, it would be impossible to get 100% off the pro track athletes to brush their teeth on a given day.

She's Christian, but she isn't Catholic or anything that takes a hard line on abortion. Most mainline churches don't have an official position on abortion and some even lean more pro-choice in some cases. I wouldn't necessarily call her decision to be not in line with her own beliefs.

OK, misinterpreted her comment about getting Roto-rootered in the days before the Olympics, but if it was indeed early on she could have run just fine with a "passenger" (term used in lieu of "fetus" or "baby"), as I have read articles on women bragging about running marathons in month seven.

2. To gain an insight on the abortion rate cited, perhaps Suzy F.H. should be contacted as she somehow defied the odds of unwanted pregnancy in her other career.

She's black it's just kinda what they do. Cultural thing.

It's okay to be a Christian and not believe 100% of your religions beliefs. Just like it's okay to be Republican or Democrat and not follow your party 100%. In fact I respect people more who have differences and can't be labeled 100%. Those people are fundamentalist sheep.
