That is stupid and short sided. For the sport to grow, we need more meet directors like Steve that are willing to do what it takes to get tracks TO conform. The rules are confusing and stupid - the fact that someone has done it (by my count, there are only 2-3 meets that set this up correctly, and Festival of Miles last night was NOT one of them as they used cones along the whole track, no curb was in place) should be applauded.
There are areas in the country that can host and should host elite meets. The sport needs to grow beyond the coasts (Boston, Stanford, NY, Portland), and facility rental fees can be egregious. Often times you can get a HS track for little to nothing.
