Because she has one of the best ranges ever. 11.09, 21.97, 47.99, 1:53.28. Who else have similar ranges? Marita Koch, Aouita, Haile, Bekele, Kipchoge, Mo...

But more concerning issue with her is that everybody read or heard about workouts of these athletes. Even Zalazar was very open about Mo's workouts. Or Koch using light markers for her 250/300m reps.

In the other side, how do we know about workouts or examples of Jarmila's training sessions?

I couldn't agree more. Why take away a record that is strongly believed to be drug aided and replace it with a record that is strongly believed to be drug aided? Wait until measures are in place to ensure the records are clean. Then again, that could be a while.

Yes, Shorter, was far and away was the greatest American Distance Runner of all time.

Check his World Rankings, Cross country and road career. He's deep in all areas.

If Rupp manages a gold medal, and carves up the roads, he's up there too.

She has every right to "explode" about this. Going back and rewriting history is absurd at best.

Put yourself in her position. She's an exceptional talent born into a system that placed performance of the nation as the number one priority. More important than religion, family, self, etc. So important in fact that risking her very gender was not enough concern. Many of the women in that system were not so lucky and had to become men eventually due to the irreversible damage.

We do not know the horrors she has gone through, but it's safe to say no parent would wish it upon their child. She went through hell and back for that WR and on a deep level I have great respect for her and what she's done. Just as I have a deep level of distaste for those that coached her to treat her body so horribly.
