Nesta Carter is a doper.

Trump should award the 1976 gold to Shorter and Bronze medal to Kardong.

What is there to think about? This has been a consistent policy for as long as I can recall.

T & F is about as clean as the cyclists in the Tour de France. If you now elevate 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st, you're just moving more dopers around.

You are kidding, right? Those athletes will say much the same as if he'd dropped the baton in the race:

Thoughts? They didn't want to taint the last games, so they waited until after the Olympics to decide this, right? They could have ruled sooner, right, but they wanted the story to be historic 9 time gold medalist. For the sponsors, etc..

Fred, I'm pretty sure it has a different mechanism of action than salbutamol. No anabolic or fat burning effect, as salbutamol does.

Regardless of the timing after the games, I feel for Bolt. The rules should be different especially in this case. He loses the medal through no fault of his own. They could have put a slow 10.6s sprinter on the team and still won!

Why feel bad for Bolt? Even if he doesnt dope, chances are he knew Carter was doping. Why doesnt he turn them in? Doesnt he want fair competition?

That can be attributed to it being only the first year Bolt ran the 100m. When he ran the 10.03 he was already equipped to run 9.69, he just needed to learn how to start and how to transition into his phases. Whether or not he was doped is a separate issue. The point is it isn't a big deal for someone with Bolt's physical attributes (whether chemically enhanced or not) to go from 10.03 to 9.69 the first year they run the 100m event. A starting point of 10.03 is very rare, but not far off where sprinters like Houston McTear and Bob Hayes were on little more than natural talent when first starting.
