Can I take a 4:30 flight after the Boston Marathon? (Wave One)

Ran 3 hrs, got my bags, found my wife and friends, I took the 3:30 flight the year of the bombings. I showered and was at the airport (cabbed) well before that.

From what I remember there wasn't much to eat at Logan. I had a salad or something but as the news broke just as we got our meal I lost my appetite.

I still think that taking that 3:30 flight may have saved my life. If I had stayed (I had to get back to work for Tues) I would have hung around at the finish with my buddy.

There was no feeling worse when I found out about the bombs from another friend who was at the finish and I couldn't get in touch with the said buddy who was supposed to be hanging right there. Thankfully he ran a sub 3 for the first time and was so happy he just stayed indoors and was checking the results.

To bring it back on topic, I didn't get a late check out when I asked, but he was staying the extra night so I showered at his hotel).

I've run a 3:15 and make it with 2 hours to spare.. DOABLE

So let me get this straight. You're going to pay all this money to run fly out to boston, run this race which presumably you care quite a lot about, and spend the entire trip worrying if you are going to make it in time to get to the airport 2 hours early going straight from the finish line shoot? The last thing you need when running a marathon is something else to stress about. Get a credit card, pay the $100, and pay it off over the next month or 2. Be an adult.

I've done 5pm, it was tight. I think I ran 2:50 that year. The DOMS when we landed was among the worst in my life. My hotel was right down town. So I finished and walked jogged right there. 4 minute shower and cab,

If you fly stand by you give your ticket reservation, and the change fee would cut into your flight savings.

If you don't have a hotel yet, you might be in for a rude awakening. I booked mine back in October and was shocked by how expensive they were (Air BnB wasn't better). I got a room a few blocks from the finish line for $350 per night because it was one of the cheapest ones..........yeah THEN I remembered why I swore I'd never go back to Boston when I ran it last time......[/quote]

He'll finish by 12:45pm. Which gives him plenty of time to get to Logan by 3 or 3:30pm. Easy.

Whatever you do, do NOT get on a plane without showering. That's a major a-hole move.

Where are you flying out of? I need a cheap ticket too.

Look for something after 7 p.m. I took a JetBlue flight out after the 2008 Boston, and it was filled with runners trying to avoid another night in a hotel. (Many of these did not shower). Pack 2 wash clothes to wipe down and dry off in a restroom before the flight!

He'll finish by 12:45pm. Which gives him plenty of time to get to Logan by 3 or 3:30pm. Easy.

Got 6:15 for $200. Worth the extra $100, IMO, as suggested. Ended up snagging a Cambridge AirBNB for under $100 which should make it easier as well. Thanks for the help!
