Would have much preferred to see Oakley at FL this year. NXN field was outclassed by her there.

Likewise, Clinger against all these boys today would have been very fun as well. Granted I realize he faced a few of them, i.e. Hirsch, Worley, Jacobs, etc., last weekend.

He raced Fisher last week as well.

There was a Texas stud Reed Fisher back in the early '70's.

Reed Fischer ran at U of Texas & was the 1st Longhorn to go sub 4 indoors in 1974. The 2nd Longhorn to do that was Leonel Manzano in 2005.

There was a Reed Fischer who ran at Drake U recently who was a 14.00 / 29.09 5k/10K guy.

When is the last time we had a TV/video stream of a Track or CC Meet and NOT had a thread tearing apart the production??

Hopefully Flotrack and NBC/ESPN etc. take some notes and use this as the new standard.

I'm, a dumb ass, because I'm just learning to watch computer stuff on my smart TV. My 65 inch TV with surround sound is like being there live.

By the way, when Mareno caught Lane. I said Lane done. But Lane responded fantastically, was I wrong. Lane is a studett.

Wisconsin actually picks up numbers 2,3 & 14 with Noah Jacobs! We also have another 8:57 two miler that has committed to Wisconsin.

I think Fischer ran about a 4:05 or 4:06 in early '70s as a prep which maybe was state record until John Robinson a decade later.

LRC posted a chart comparing the boy's field depth with previous editions. I wish they'd do the same for the girls. In any case, here's some history.

On the girls side, Oakley's speed rating still beats Lane and the girls top 10 at NXN beats FL top 10, but barely.

The boys races however reflect a way different outcome than most would have though possible. ....Clinger's performance in Portland only scored a 199.53 while Brown registered a 202.41 at Balboa on Saturday. What's more telling is the performance of 1 -10 at FL and 1 - 20 for that matter. Based on speed rating, FL boys from 1 - 20 outperformed NXN this year. Interestingly, Hirsch was slightly faster at FL than NXN and Worley was exactly the same. The FL top 10 raced tightly and kept the pace moving. ------ Apparently the Footlocker format still rules for bringing the best out of HS XC racers.
