I see that a lot of people (flagpole) say to go to the schools web site and find their scholarship standards. I have tried on 3-4 schools web sites and cannot find that info. Any hints on where to find it?
Honestly, I haven't found those sites very helpful. When you actually talk to coaches, those standards are rarely followed. There is usually more money than those standards would indicate. There are a few factors that seem to go into that:
-Trying to balance money across classes.
-High places at regional/national level XC meets bump kids up for more money
-The region you come from. Some coaches are willing to take a risk on dominant kids from less competitive areas
Here are the patterns I've noticed for girls in our area:
-All American XC, 4:55/Sub 10:40 - Full ride from mid-level Power 5s, 50-100% from top end D1s
-All Region XC, 4:50/Sub 10:40 - Full ride from mid-level Power 5s, 25-75% from top end D1s
-All Region XC, 5:00/Sub 10:50 - Full ride from smaller D1s, 50-75% from mid-level Power 5s, Books - 50% from top end
-All Region XC, 5:00/11:00 - 50-75% from small D1s, 25-40% from Power 5s, Books from top end
-All State XC, 5:10/11:15 - 25-75% from small D1s, 25-50% from Power 5s, Books from top end
-All State XC, 5:15/11:30 - 25-40% from small D1s, Books from Power 5s, 50-75% at good D2 programs
-Sub 5:30/sub 12 - Books from small D1s, 25%-40% at mid-level D2 programs
That is athletic money only. If you are a good student, you can add in academic money and get a lot paid for.
