Agree. She does not seem to have the strength for the 1500 . . . I wish she'd made the 800 team, but medaling this year in that event has its own share of challenges.

Not really. If she came dead last in a 1500m semifinal, it shows that she's not fully fit and there is little chance she can progress to the 800m finals if she has made the USA 800m team.
It was ridiculously difficult just to make the final and Boris did fantastic just to make it. He wasn't at his best in the final, but did great to make the U.S. team and the final. He'd probably have been better if not for all that distracting Nike nonsense, which cut out a race for him.

Not really, he only split 49.9. He can and has run 50/53 so that makes little sense.
I actually thought slotting in behind Rudisha rather than racing for the lead or to be behind Kipketer was pretty reasonable and mature for a frontrunner to settle in and get towed by faster guys.
He really just didn't have the endurance to close, obviously. Maybe from peaking his speed to early in the season and not being able to hold fitness.
But the tactics weren't bad.
Given where he came from, it's quite an accomplishment that he make the finals. I think the early move from Kipkiter took Berian off of his game.

So the consensus seems to be that he has underdeveloped aerobic capacities, and probably needs a new coach. Who does he go to? I think his best bet would be Danny Mackey, if he could work that out with New Balance. There's no one else really that's shown success at coaching 800m athletes.

Boris ran well enough to get to the final. He will always be an olympian and like others it becomes a learning experience. He did not fail, he finished poorly but its not the end of the world as you state "failure". His fitness is there, he didn't respond when others where rolling. He can be coached.
He is our number two american for 800 meters and depending on the post olympic games racing season he will end up top ten in the world ranked.

Stop blaming Nike for his lack of racing. There was NOTHING, absolutely nothing that was preventing him from competing in any race.
He was prohibited from competing in new Balance gear. He could've worn un branded shorts/shirt and covered up the NB logo and been fine.
If he thought he couldn't compete, they he once again got bad advice from that idiot agent Hawi.
Boris just ran out of steam. No same in 8th in the Olympics, but I bet even Boris isn't happy with his race.

How many 800m runners coached by Mackey qualified for Rio? Certainly on the men's side, they looked completely out of their league in Eugene. Why in the works would Berian leave a coach that gave him a chance and helped him to a world indoor championship? Seriously?
