Umm, aren't you all SUPPOSED to play defensively when ahead 1-0 after 61 minutes? Just about every male team in the world would do this. Is female soccer different somehow?
USA only scored by a lucky rebound off the defender's face. Sweden executed their game plan and won. Tough.
Changing her gloves and making the Swedish penalty taker wait an age before the final spot kick was classless too.

True. For that reason goalkeepers can't lose really. The winning keepers will be the hero and the outfield player who misses the crucial kick in the shootout is usually the villain, So Solo had to go some to make herself the villain from that situation, but she managed it.
Oh, the low scoring sport of soccer really sucks.
Get rid of the offsides rule, watch the long passes ensue, and you
would have a higher scoring pleasurable sport to watch.....

Many people do not respect that style of playing. Like a boxer who runs around the ring and hardly throws punches. If he connects once and knocks out his opponent, many people will not respect him.
The 101 shutouts in just over 200 starts have A LOT to do with the defense and teams that they played. There are several other female goalies who could have had the exact same results if they had been between the posts versus her. Use YOUR f*ckin brain as you don't know jack about soccer. She gets way too much credit for games that she didn't have jack to do with (I played soccer for 15 years, I know the game well).

^^ Does not get the sport at all. Anyway, soccer (football) is one of the few major sports where the team that plays 'better' often loses. I mean.....often. Attacking teams are simply stalemated by solid defence, get frustrated, lose concentration, and lose to late breakaway goals. It's all a lot more subtle than the usual American 'playing defense is for losers' mentality.
