Donald Trump not fighting with the military (not the same thing as draft dodging) has nothing to do with denigrating John McCain. Trump made fun of McCain's war hero status because McCain made fun of Trump and his supporters.

It had nothing to do with Trump's views on prisoners of war in general. He was just fighting back against McCain's insults. McCain started it. I don't understand how you can think anything is wrong with insulting someone if they insulted you first.

John McCain is an American HERO and a great Republican! Trump should have just said "Thank you for your service, SIR" and moved along.

Conservative trolling? I put the Hillary thread up on the front page as well. All I want is everyone to be up in arms. More discussion = more ad dollars.

On a serious note, I emailed to our main moderator this morning. I"d forgotten but for the most part he tries to delete ALL political threads unless they are very newsworthy. Here is his logic:

Khizr Khan's endorsement of Hillary at the DNC then choose someone that is actually an American citizen and spoke at the RNC... like MARCUS LUTTRELL for example who spoke at the RNC endorsing Trump.

Luttrell is the author of "Lone Survivor". As a retired Navy Seal and American citizen his endorsement of Trump would be a good one to counter Khizr Khan's.

BUT not you chose an inflammatory news article about a foreign citizen and Obama's distant half brother.

....The main problem with political threads is that it breeds a lot on interpersonal animosity and malice that spills over into other threads. Once the infection starts it’s hard to keep other threads from becoming political too. At least, if you cull them down to a couple of threads (Democratic and Republican Convention, and the debate thread) the people who want to come to a running message board to talk about running don’t have to wage through a pile of shit to get to it. The people who want to bitch at each other all day long can go to the designated political threads.

The best solution would to have a separate political message board and let them have at it.

Boy do I agree with this. Politically, I'm actually very much a moderate, not a fan of either Trump or HIllary, but the reason I come to this site is to read about running. Yes, I know, politics is in everything, but the politics of the Olympics or PED enforcement are the politics this site has real experts talking about.

So, even though this site isn't a democracy, I vote for separating the Let's Run political message board from the Let's Run sport message board. Track Lives Matter!
