I think that Berian and his agent have been holding out. Based on this result, It seems to be a gamble that will pay off in a much better contract.

It is unprecedented in my memory though, Meb and Alysia had similar unsponsored periods though between contracts if I recall correctly.

Just curious... Is Handler or Vigil (or a combo of the two) writing his workouts?

Having a background in fast foot restaurants I think he is waiting for an offer that would get him better than 15 bucks an hour.

Yeah, I know athletics is in a sorry state at the moment, but it is not usual for the indoor world champion to be unsponsored.

He did get a little money - USATF $10000 (awarded 2/24). Still, given the year he had last year it's a little hard to understand why no shoe sponsor.

That was amazing. I was yelling, "hold on m%f#, hold on!" especially after Masback said he was toast.

Didn't realize Masback was that fast. He's the real deal.

Outstanding experience for Berian to go through rounds both at USAs and Worlds here. That will really help prepare him for outdoors. This was also a courageous race, to go out by himself in 23.9 indoors is incredible, and that he could hold it together with no pacer as well as he did (roughly 23.9/26/27/28) speaks volumes of his toughness. Obviously, Aman at full strength is very, very good, but he is not close to full strength. But it was a very worthwhile competition for Berian and a 1:42.xx and contention in the Olympic finals are surely in the works for him if he can stay healthy through outdoors.

He's signed. It just hasn't been announced yet.

I doubt no company approached him. i think he was just waiting until after this race. People are saying "I can't believe no one has signed him yet" like its a draft and the athlete has no choice in where he wants to go lol.

He has already made himself a New Balance athlete for free, Nike and Adidas won't touch him.

You're wrong on that one. He will get less $$$$$$ now. A sponsor wants him in their gear before he wins big. He also still needs to run rounds at the OTs. Yes, he is a stud front runner, but he almost didn't make this final and failed to make it out of the rounds at USA's last year.
