Ventolin stop repeating that Renato quote. It never says what you think it says. This is yet another example of you inserting that quote where it is not relevant. Nowhere in that quote does Renato say that "near 12:40 is better than 3:28 or 3:27". Stop it.

i think hed run around 1.45.8 or thereabouts.i know thats a pure guess figure,though.he doesnt train for the 800,and its not his specialty,but if he stepped out onto the track,and ran it in a competition,hed likely run sub 1.46.

someone here said he closed in 1:48 for 800 at the end of a 5k so he's a baller, I would assume he could do at least 1:45? But I don't know the pace of the 5k it could have just been a warmup for him?

That is crazy though to think... he could probably run faster than he did in London in the marathon so to be able to do that and a sub 1:45 800 is pretty insane.

if moe trained for 800m i can see 51 plus 53 = 144x. you'll never see this.

Using Farah's 1500m and half marathon times that he actually ran only 2 months apart, estimates using various calculators give around 12:41.

It's not surprising if you think about it. Nobody has ever run both 3:28 and 59:22, let alone in the same summer. If Farah ran 3:27, 3:26 or even 3:25 everyone would come on here and claim Bekele could do the same. Farah actually did it, no guesswork.

His 5k/10k ability will be right up there with the best of all time. 12:40 and 26:30 are not unreasonable.

Was hoping somebody would bring up Aouita's great range from 800m to 10km. Aouita who ran 3:29 WR; a 12:58 5K WR also ran a 1:43:86 for Bronze in the 1988 Olympic 800m Final losing to Paul Ereng & Joaquim Cruz BUT the speed work done to produce that time caused injuries and he had to withdraw from the 1500m. He was never the same in my opinion.

they don't run against barriers but against the clock

in mo's case he woud hammer that clock tearing asunder any barriers upto 12'35

he had one early season loss over 3k last year & that was his only loss on the track for a long while albeit he doesn't run much on circuit

that was due to combo of how tired he was after a brutal 10k & how good the guys in the 5k were

caleb maya been coming back from injury but you can ask canova his coach what shape he reckoned his boy was in 5k

that 5k in '04 was just about the slowest ever i can recall in years & came down to basically 400 speed which wouda been hicham at maybe 47+ v mo at 49+

at that slow-ass level of course hicham wouda won

however, if they had been travelling at 13'00 flat speed to the bell, it wouda been whole different ballgame with mo's kick becoming much more powerful as the faster pace woudn't have hurt it as much

it appears you need to actually start at that institution first

from the gun Asbel had basically shot away leaving mo to draft the pack until the bell

mo was too far behind Asbel to get any drafting & gave maloofi/iguider/etc a free ride

drafting is worth ~ 0.7s/lap, so if there had been a 2nd set of pacers which his camp shouda paid for for mo, he couda expected quicker to bell ideally of

(1100/400) * 0.7 = 1.925s or off his time of

3'28.91 - 1.925 = 3'26.99

& we have still offered him nothing for uneven pace !!!

i'm going with top-end of that estimate range

I don't know if your calculator is wrong or not, but I think the problem is mostly you. Farah demonstrated absolutely nothing to show that he is in 26:20 shape. You have nothing to base this on.
