Manzano ran what for 1600 - 4:06? Robert Gonzales ran that time in 1967 on cinder or dirt. Maybe number 3 all time at the time.
Magness ran 4:01 mile and Rueben Reina 30 years later still holds Foot Locker record.
If its based on high school only, Chris Nelloms should be considered. He was the HS record holder for the 110H for almost 20 years until Wayne Davis set the current record. Also ran the 200 (20.47) & 400 (45.59) which was in the top 10 until that last few years..

Not sure if Mary or Wesley Frazier would be my choice. Mary still holds the 10k national record but that event is rarely contested by high school ladies. Wesley won 8 national titles in high school. I would call it a coin toss.
Bolas is, perhaps, the best high school male distance runner although he and Sandy Roberts traded podium places many times throughout their career. There are a number of other high school boys distance kids who are arguably better than them.
But, Trentavius Friday and Wayne Davis are the NATIONAL record holders in the 100m dash and 110h respectiviely. Both had much better high school careers than Bolas.
I know this is a distance board but the question isn't limited to distance runners.
There's a pretty good chance that the HS record for the 100, 200, 1600, 3200, and 5000 will all be held by Virginians. Tough state for sure.
My personal rank would be (not counting field events or hurdles, though Allen Johnson is an all-timer for sure.)

Agreed on both of those. Schirio was an absolute freak of a runner. Too bad her son isn't quite putting up the male equivalent of her times.
I do wish that we could have seen Moskowitz run the MoC XC course when he was in 8:44 shape. Would have loved to see if he could take down the CR (15:07)
