You shouldn't confuse news gathering or blogging with journalism. Journalism requires ethics. Journalists do not publish articles with typos or draw lines through inaccurate information while leaving the inaccurate information to stand without explanation.

Mary Cain should have done the interview. Period. But it's not surprising she refused.
Regardless of whether LRC is the running community's equivalent of The New York Times or the National Inquirer (it's somewhere in between), she is an adult, a professional athlete, and bears a basic level of responsibility to the fan base of her sport. If LRC asked her a question she didn't want to answer, she would have been free to shift the direction of the question, change the subject completely, or simply decline to answer. She's more than capable of doing any of those. Professional athletes do all three all the time. So do professional coaches.
But despite her move east, she's still on Nike's payroll and still under Alberto's thumb. And they aren't too happy with LRC these days.
It's wrong, it's a shame, and it doesn't reflect well on a talented young athlete who also used to be a compelling personality.
Obviously ROJO got it right highlighting Mary Cain. The men's race was a battle and should be the object of discussion, but this whole thread is about MC. Go figure??

I don't understand why you think she "bears a basic level of responsibility to Letsrun" when Letsrun doesn't feel that it bears a basic level of responsibility to her.
You misquoted me. Read what I wrote. Then try actually thinking about it.
Compare how you compared the evidence against salazar (all verbal accusation, none peds) and the Radcliffe allegations (drug tests, no count down clock, etc) and you can figure it out.

This turned out to be a spurious result. She had run earlier in a youth race and presumed stood too close to the finishing line while watching the open 5K. Timing company will probably correct results later.
Kudos to Cain. If me were she: I'd definately say no to a LRC interview. And I'd still run for AlSal. ~it's 50 comin thru your stereo.
Cain is not a 'public servant' or indebted to any fan base for an interview. If anyone ever says- do this or I'll leave you, etc.... Leave them. People will come and go your entire life.
Cain will be invited to every and any top international meet as long as she keeps running fast. Take the money and run! No fans or interviews necessary. That is unless Roger Godell mandates you to speak beast mode.
All the posters whining about how crappy LetsRun.com is are a bunch of hypocritical whiners. If you hated it so badly, you wouldn't be here in the first place. You definitely wouldn't be on the message boards. Face it, you just like to complain. Maybe it makes you feel smart, or superior.
You don't have to agree with everything on the website. But as far as a central source of information about the running scene, operated by guys who, whatever their flaws, are at least enthusiastic about the competitive side of running, there really isn't another site comparable to LetsRun.

Androgel is not a PED? Alberto admitted he was "testing" Androgel on his son. Alberto admitted that Androgel was at NOP's Park City training camp.
Your post is absolutely correct and on target. Taking it one step further, there also isn't another comparable site when it comes to breadth and depth of audience in the running community. And that's why MC should have done the interview.
Who cares if Cain doesn't speak to letsrun. I think it's great. And good for letsrun going after NOP suspicions. And great for Cain to say.... "Meh. Don't care to support your enterprise." Letsrun is designed to make MONEY. Cain said, I won't help you there. Hehaw! She did speak with old editors of harrier magazine who asked her preferences of light green, pink, yellow or sky blue magazine cover.
This....Mary Cain takes a step down in my eyes. Be a professional...not a baby. I am sure Treniere Moser would have taken questions and handled herself like a pro.
