Is a family of four, even if they live in Portland, going to pay $900?

If you're a local track fan, you already spent your money on Trials tickets. Or, you prefer to spend $35/ticket for Pre, and watch a better meet, and not devote 3 days to it.

I assume, as others have said, that it'll mostly fill up (perhaps not morning sessions) once single-session tickets go on sale. But with PRE, NCAAs, Trials, there are a lot of other options for track fans.

Exactly. I live in Portland too, and was looking at going, but they don't have single sessions available and the all session tickets are expensive. The cheapest seat is $225. Come on, you can't possibly be surprised that it wouldn't be sold out.

They were incredibly stupid to not have individual session tickets available.

Again, $200+ dollars is a big commitment that far out from the event. We're talking the price of a GPS watch. You could take the whole family to a Blazers game or the Timbers for $200 dollars. This is Portland, not NYC or SF. $200 is still a LOT of money. $800 to bring a family of four? Only the most die-hard track families would splurge on that. This isn't the Olympics!

If they go to single day tickets, they will fill the stands.

If they stubbornly overlook the pricing mistake(s) by blaming other factors, the stands will be empty.

This ⬇️ I bought our tickets for the Olympic trials in that was enormous amount of money. I'd love to go to the indoor but I'm not gonna drop another 900 bucks I eill hope for a single day ticket and watch some of the distance events

Ok, if I'm a super track fan, and live anywhere but Oregon or Washington, why would I keep buying tickets to go back to the same place?

Just go to the US Outdoor Nationals and that's it. USATF is going to the Oregon well to many times, its getting stale.

US Cross Country Championships, Bend, OR

World Indoor, Portland, OR

US Olympic Trials, Eugene, OR

Either make it the home of USATF or move it around. It doesn't do the sport any good to have a region bias.
