He gave you solid advice; he just didn't say what your entitled millennial brain wanted to hear.
So you say thanks for nothing.
I wouldn't want to coach you.
(Also, work on your spelling.)
2/10

Thanks for nuttin.
Hahaha, the fact that y'all are still responding to this troll is hilarious, but I want in on the fun too. Obvious troll is obvious.
OP, I was a state champ in XC and the 3200 in High School. I doubt you are faster than I was. Here is the deal: get up at 5:00am and run 7-10 miles each morning. Work hard at practice. Listen to your coach and race hard. If your teammates are being mean, just ignore them. Don't be a dick to them, just ignore them. Try to be a good teammate when you can, even when it's met with resistance. Don't act out against them or the coach. This will be super hard for you, but don't gloat or brag. Cross the line and cheer on your teammates.
If you quit your team, you will quit running competitively. I guarantee you that much. Sure, you might run some local 5k races with the old guys around town, but that's not the same. If you quit, you're done.

I don't think your attitude really warrants any more response, but I'll humor you for one more post.
If you want to be a one-man-wolfpack, then your best option is to quit your team. Focus on road racing and open college events (when you can find them). Train yourself, or hire a private coach.
Athletes like yourself are toxic to a team sport. Colleges focus on team achievement, and you won't last long (you'll also be miserable on a personal level).
I coach an XC team that had a couple of athletes like yourself. Our success (qualifying for state for the first time as a team) has come from team cohesiveness.
"A good program and a bad program look the same on paper" is a quote that has stuck with me.
Your coach's programming is most likely fine. But if you don't buy into it, you will doubt it and find flaws and failure all season.
I was a 16:09 XC kid in high school (5K), and my best improvements came with becoming a better leader. I wasn't THAT impressive, but I wasn't bad either.
I hope you all the best, friend.
If you research the presentations of Rob Miller with pro-active coaching, you could stand to benefit much.
Good luck.
Your a has-been. Faster than you now. All that matters is now. My coach is an idiot now. My team doesn't run fast now. Your the one who is done.
*you're
I guess this is a troll. People are giving legit advice and the only "answer" is "I'm faster than you".

Because it is true.

You're the number two runner on your team, so you're not a winner either.
Better put some balm on that sick burn.
Bravo! The troll is strong in this one. Golf clap for you!

Remarkable job, 9/10 to you sir. Many bites and you were somewhat convincing in the early stages.
It is good however to see people legitimately trying to be considerate on this site. The amount of responses that provided solid advice was astounding considering how LR seems to be such a cesspool of trolls and very bitter people, for the time being at least.

Says the second best runner on a no-name team. Good luck!
Randomrun, it is not your job as a teammate/senior/captain to tell the team what to do. Lead by example. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink it. It's your coaches job to be on people about stuff like that.
As to your comment that "all that matters is now", running is not a "now" sport. If you're as good as you say you are, you'll run faster in college anyway. Your best days as a runner are ahead of you.
I'm surprised how much attention your thread is still getting despite how disrespectful you've been. A lot of things you say lead me to believe that you could use an attitude adjustment. That's the truth. I'm not the only one here who sees that. If you didn't want to hear the truth, you shouldn't have bothered to post on this board.
just eat your own farts and go away

You used to be a 9/10 troll.. the longer you keep it going the worse you're going to burn out. quit while you're ahead.

No joke, I've kicked kids off of our team for this kind of attitude. a 16:xx 5k doesn't mean squat if everyone hates you for being a self-centered piss-ant.
You are clearly a very special snowflake. It is a real tragedy that your so-called coach and the inferior runners on your team don't see that. You need to quit immediately and begin training on your own. You are doing far more harm to your career than you can possibly imagine by staying with a team that doesn't give you the respect you so obviously deserve.
Also, punctuation is not a limited resource. Feel free to use it liberally in your writing.
