Those with nothing to hide can form a truthful statement in minutes. Those with nothing to hide would have actually appeared on the program themselves.

Just like Lance Armstrong the biggest cheat of the last few decades - the defense is always to try and discredit the accuser, attack those that know the truth, belittle them and try and destroy them before they can destroy you.

Nobody can seriously believe 20+ people have all decided to concoct a story, that all fits the same narrative, just because they think someone else is a jerk.

US athletics has always hidden their drug cheats, and appear to be doing nothing on this one either.

It appears that he is taking the same tact as the USATF on past controversies- lay low for as long as possible to remove the interest/accountability on the issue.

Time to boycott Nike products until there is a statement at the very least from both coach and sponsor.

If all Salazar was going to do is publish documentation that he has readily to hand, which is what initially we were led to believe he would do, then he has had ample time in which to do this. Steve Cram, who has emerged as a leading apologist for Salazar/Farah, assured us that Salazar kept the most detailed records of all aspects of his athletes' preparations and that publication of this material would be enough to establish his innocence.

Clearly not! And what it is starting to look like is that Salazar is trying to use this time to create or concoct evidence of his lack of wrongdoing which is not at all the same thing! And every time a new allegation is made further "evidence" has to be discovered (or made up!) to refute the allegation.

Surely Salazar is being advised by some PR expert (Nike's in house staff?)? And surely someone should have told him that the longer he goes without producing his defence the worse it is starting to look for him? Puzzled as to his strategy here!

The only time I've been questioned by police (about a crime I didn't commit), I didn't need to remain silent, or have an attorney present, I simply told them the truth. When you're innocent, you don't need time to "gather evidence and come up with a response", you just tell the truth. Salazar can't just come out and say "everything we used we had a legitimate prescription for" because he know evidence may surface that will show that's not true.

I really think what's taking so long in crafting his eventual statement is that he's more worried about possibly contradicting what might yet come out later, than in addressing what has already come out.

If everything was false he wouldn't need this long to gather "evidence". When you are arrested or got in trouble at school or anything similar and you were innocent you came right out and told the truth in detail without question. If he was innocent he wouldn't even need to gather evidence. I'm already over it and turned a deaf ear to whatever a NOP athlete says they will be viewed in my eyes as lance armstrongs. It's such a shame and now the 2015 U.S. Championships will have an asterisk by it as centro makes the team and rupp makes the team.
