i have to agree in regards to the Daily Mail. There are maybe 3 or 4 facts in the article and the rest is all there to tell you how you should feel about it. In fact, it is designed so that the less you know about running, the more outraged you will be.

The facts that are there are not that alarming to me. I do not claim to know WADA rules chapter and verse, but even the stuff that is considered cheating to me seems arbitrary.

This is a whole new performance enhancing drug. Not illegal because nobody knows what is yet - it hasn't been discovered as the elixir of youth and spritely running..yet.

No this is something that Nike has been developing in their labs for years, specially for Galen Rupp - the wonder boy of America. This is the darkest depth of the grey area. They will never be caught.

Because this drug is engineered for Galen Rupp's muscles and aerobic system only.

This answers the question: why don't the other athletes know what's going on?

That's right, Alberto could never take the time to develop a drug that is untraceable and specifically designed to help an individual.

I have a sneaking suspicion that is what is in those vials.

The tears of Galen Rupp, Salazar, Lance Armstrong, Jimi Hendrix, John Jacob Astor IV, Huey Lewis, Michael Gambon, Willie Nelson, and Napoleon Bonaparte have been mixed into a fine solution that Galen must inject into his bloodstream. When he does this his red blood cells multiply like jack rabbits in the summer, his heart gets stronger, his legs recover more quickly, his tendons multiply (yes multiply) he is one giant, fluid muscle, he cannot be broken, his muscles are like steel cables, he will go the distance.

And he will not fail a drug test because no one would ever test for the salty tears of Willie Nelson at a Diamond League track meet.

Someone else said there would be more coming with his history from the 80's and 90's. It's funny those who call this BS and say it's absurd.

Again... This happened over two years ago. Seems pretty odd someone could just guess that and weave in all these players if it wasn't justified.

Why would someone go to the effort of deliberately taking off the correct labels and then putting their own ones on top with 'Allergy 1' and 'Allergy 2'??? If its all on the up and up, you would leave the correct labels on. I dont know of a single doctor/pharmacist who hands over medicine/drugs in a vial where the only writing says 'Allergy 1' on it. Bizarre. It also brings back memories of Kara being given handwritten labels on a bottle full of drugs. Why are none of these drugs that he's handing out got the official labels on them?

Because unlicensed Pharmacist Salazar doesn't have to play by the medical rules. Unlicensed Pharmacists are out of the watchful eye of the authorities.

From time to time we have Al Sal + Rupp + Gouchers + Dr. Jim "blood-doping expert" hanging out in Park City, with some needles, some AndroGel and some vials of "stuff" that has to be kept cold.

What drug in a vial needs to be kept refrigerated and might necessitate needles?

Ordinarily I'd agree that there's a lot of smoke here but little substance. However, having recently read Hamilton's Secret Race about pro cycling as well as WADA's reasoned decision on Armstrong all of this just sounds waaayyy too probable of being a problem rather than mere product of rumors and innuendo. I'm not cheering NOP's demise like some but being a fan of endurance sports requires a certain amount of cynicism and pragmatism. Rumors on the message boards for years sounded like sour grapes to me. The details of this ongoing story do not.

So the Daily Mail's Chief Sports Writer and current Sports Journalist of the Year is writing trash?, interesting. There were a lot of quotes in that article, are you suggesting the journalist purposely misquoted him?

The key is the labels being hand made. This isn't a prescription from a doctor for allergies. Ask A former assistant coach of the NOP about taking Salazar and Rupp to hospital parking lots so he could give him injections. Just in case something went wrong....

Surely these guys can find a way to claim that these allegations really add nothing new, that Rupp et al. have been on allergy meds since they were infants and that until there's actual proof that the vials contained a nefarious substance. They will sound like unrestrained jackholes, but that's the fun part.
