Do you have a link to a research paper the shows linear progression over a period of many years--greater than 10--is a poor example of doping?

You want a research paper on Rupp's progression or just linear progression or what? I don't think you know what you are asking for.

The question was a paper that proves long-term linear progression is not an example of doping. It certainly seems that a long-term plan would be best to thwart investigators. Micro-dosing by ever increasing the micro-dose levels appears it could fool the biological passport. Brilliant concept by the NOP.

Seems like The Times are going after the NOP for some reason. I suspect they know more than what has currently been published.

This is why I don't understand these NOP threads. Why would Salazar go to great lengths to get a legal supplement and discuss its use with USADA if they have this awesome, undetectable, micro-dosing program that Nike is paying the testers to ignore and delivers results sufficient to boost Rupp to a silver medal? If there is a magic "Centro sauce" what's the point of all this supplement crap?

The grey zone and supplements are cover for/or work in synergy with the real dope

It muddies the waters. They are very transparent about this topic rendering it a non-story. This is Lance Armstrong all over again. Seriously, Marion Jones. Lance Armstrong. Sure Rupp and Farah are clean.

You have to keep in mind that when Salazar first started pursuing the L-carnitine route, he thought it might actually work. Salazar will try anything to get an advantage; if it's legal, that's even better.

It does work. It reduces lactate buildup, and reduces fat stores, and increases power output. The reason the NOPers say it didn't work are; how could they tell since they were using altitude tents, thyroids meds, and a host of other goodies--what works, what doesn't, who knows--; and, they were told to deny everything by their coach.

Not only is 50mL a HUGE injection from a BIG FAT syringe, any volume limit is silly because the total amount of dope in the injection depends on its concentration.

50mL every few hours means basically no limit at all. Just another WADA charade, like the xenon ban.

You could use an IV to take the injected the "amino acids" (har, har) while running on a treadmill. It seems that would quicken the absorption, and you could slowly inject the "amino acids" over an hour period or more.

What next, accuse everyone who drank Gatorade of doping?

While L-carnitine oral supplementation does not produce gains, micro injection into leg muscles does improve performance. Mo and Galen used them, and so did Bradley Wiggins. Either that or its a cover up. I believe it was British doctors that developed this technology in preparation for the 2012 London Olympics. Whatever they took worked really well.

Ok, lots of misinformation on this. Just because it is an amino acid doesn't make it a no issue.

What if this were caffeine? Isn't caffeine in high amounts banned? Injecting caffeine would certainly be banned.

To me, anything that a hobby jogger wouldn't do is questionable. A casual runner would never stick a needle in their arm.

If this story is true, running needs a no syringe, no injection policy. Period.

Whole thing is sketchy, IMO. LRC, stay on this story.
