Yeah, very hard to believe there is no leash law in effect at the park. It appears neither the OP nor the police really know the law. The police just respond to complaints, they're not lawyers. Just from a liability point of view, it would be stupid for a municipality NOT to have a leash law. Families and children frequent parks. If there were no leash law and a dog attacked and killed a toddler the city could well be found responsible for not controlling the situation.
Interesting when people tell only there side of the story and forget to put some facts in there. First of all, I am guessing you were walking, not waling. Proof reading is a fundamental skill that has been lost. Secondly, I am pretty confident you were walking your dog without a leash on him or there would have been no reason to shout obscenities. If that is the case, it changes the story quite a bit. Dogs are required to be on a leash, especially in a park. I don't know how many times I have been almost tripped by someones dog that wasn't on a leash, while I am out running.
I am sure this team has had other incidences where selfish dog walkers let their dogs run loose and a runner has almost been tripped or bitten. If I am the coach and I think one of my runners might get hurt because the dog owners think they are too special to follow the laws and therefore put others in harms way, I am going to stick up for my runners.
I have friends that won't run in certain trails because there are so many dogs running around without leashes, in an area that it is clearly not allowed for dogs to be off the leash. I love dogs, but can't stand the majority of dog owners that think they can do whatever they want. More often than not, they don't even apologize if their precious little mutt almost trips someone. The world revolves around them and their dog.
I hope you do pursue trying to get this coach in trouble and maybe the truth will come out and you will no longer be able to walk fido without a leash.[/quote]
Thanks for the proofreading, too bad though, your sharp eye for grammar seems to have no care for advancing your own ideas through unsubstantiated claims. Where in this post does the OP even mention whether or not his dog was on a leash? You right off the gun assume they were in the wrong and then precede for three unbearable paragraphs on the subject you yourself created. This post attacks the OP for making up claims using claims it itself makes up, your post would be better left up your a** and you would be better off not visiting this message board. So you might want to read the rest of the thread before attacking someone. He was indeed walking his dog without a leash as I suspected and after he was called out on that, he added some claims about these kids that may or may not be true, but you would think he would have put them in his original post. Looks like these may have been some punk kids, but they were certainly provoked by someone breaking the law and showing no regret for doing so. Even the OP admitted that there are people that walk in that park that are afraid of dogs and have gone to the cops. I think you are just upset that I was able to see through the OP's post and see that he was partially at fault. Instead of congratulating me on being right, you chose to rip on me. Good for you. My guess is that you are one of those types that never thinks anything is his fault and bitches about everyone else. Relax a bit and read the whole thread before deciding to post on a three page thread.

We had a meet at a trail. And I remember it well. The trail was extremely tough, and our main guy was winning with I think a 17:30. It was our home trail. AND THERE WAS THIS DUDE WALKING WITH HIS DOG. And then our main guy (Who is super nice) (And who had 1k to go) Said all out of breath "Excuse me". Next thing you know the idiotic dog lover is up to our coach and is very mad and yelling at him. Our coach, who knows the senior extremely well, said that he would never have done that. And the dog lover gets all mad, and angry, and just out right idiotic. And our coach was very upset after that, because our trail for the meets might have to be closed if the guy actually complains. AND THE DOG LOVER WAS WRONG. Those people annoy the crud out of me. A LOT.
I know that was hard to follow. Sorry for the grammar mistakes and no layout. I am not going to fix it.
Also, we encountered dogs (without a leash) earlier in the trail, who were all up in our path, but the owners were very nice, sort of trying to get the dogs out of the way (Not really). And that was a problem easily solved.
The dog is irrelevant here. The kids were running, one or two of them wanted to impress their friends by yelling at a stranger. The OP got all offended and felt the need to complain to the coach.
The kids are immature and the OP is oversensitive. Not sure what the coach's deal is but it sounds like he was annoyed he had listen to a complainer upset about teenage boys acting like teenage boys.
