The stuff is overpriced for sure but the Hoodies shirts etc are decent quality comfort and style. When I ran the Disney last year l couldn't believe it. Basic Hanes Graphic Tees at the same insane high prices. It a huge money grab to Disney epic proportions. Disney can be fun only if you have $$$ and accept you're going to bent over for 7 days just to have one those days in part is just for you
I used to think earning the boston jacket was something cool for a runner. It was shorthand for being a decent marathoner. But then after awhile I realized that the jacket is tool wear for sure. Almost always a masters runner, almost always someone waiting for you to ask about their boston....
Changing up the jacket to that ugly-ass thing, does not mean repeat sales. That jacket will easily set the new record for the lowest sales. This has to be a joke, kind of a New Coke marketing plan, and they'll come out with the redesigned jacket after being told how ugly that one is.

Why??? I could say 'just because' or that it is the same rule that you don't wear a band's tshirt when you go to see that band. I wear gear from races I've never done (or didn't do in the same year). My former sponsor gave me unsold merch once upon a time. The merch doesn't say finisher on it. Yes, people will occasionally ask if I ran a particular race, and I just answer honestly, "no, I did not, but I like this shirt."
And not to pull the real runner card, but serious runners don't care whether they or anyone finished a race. Wearing a jacket for a race you didn't run is actually pretty similar to throwing out your finisher medal. Two sides of the same coin: both indicate that finishing a race is not something you consider an accomplishment.
Nobody said finishing a race or not finishing a race is important. What's important is you don't wear race apparel for a race you haven't done, whether it says finisher or not.
While I would never do it, I can see why someone MIGHT wear the shirt from a race they signed up for, but didn't finish for whatever reason. This guy bought a jacket from a race he never signed up for and didn't even attend. Go buy another jacket with the same colors if you think it looks cool.
And not to pull the real runner card, but I've never cared about a finishers medal since I never consider just finishing a race an accomplishment. Totally irrelevant comparison.

I had no interest in the jacket until I read your post. Now I'm going to buy it and wear it every day just to get you all worked up. I'll even tell people who ask if I ran it, "Yes. Yes I did." However, I have not. I will then post about it to ensure you are aware of this behaviour.

This is one of the funniest things I've ever read here. Either the "official race merchandise" is a big deal or it isn't. To some people, it's very important, which is why they line up to buy their Boston jackets and then wear them every day for the next month. To others, it's not important at all, which is why they don't buy the official race gear, and have no qualms about wearing official gear that they happen to obtain randomly.
