Takes a lot less time to shop on line. I can order shoes sitting in class on Monday and have them at my door on Tues evening/Wednesday morning. No getting out of class at 6 spending an hr in traffic to get to the monster mall pay $30 more, miss valuable study time, miss a second run and get started on the evening 2 hrs late.
Some people don't have the option or finances to waste on a 2 hr shoe purchasing trip. I'm guessing you have a short commute, great schedule and money to burn.

I just bought two pairs of Gel Nimbus online for the same price (including shipping) that I would have paid for one pair at the one local sports gear store that actually carries the Gel Nimbus. The other local stores don't even carry them - they apparently think it's more important to cater to shoe salemen who are trying to dump their overstock of Nike Air Nerds.
Did until the local store sold out to RSG. Running Warehouse from now on
I need size 15 4e asics. No stores carry them. Online is faster and I can order several pairs at once. And then I am good for a year.
I get the prices on line and the brick and mortar store either price match or come close enough.

Where I live right now, I'll stick to Amazon.com. The local running store douches can fail for all I care. They are NOT entitled to my $$$$$ just because they are small and I happen to like running.
I completely agree. If you want my business you should earn it.
Same running store hired a bunch of OCRs (Obstacle Course Runners) and called them experts. Not one has a real running or coaching background. 50% of the time the expert gait analysis is a foot pressure scan where the runner will always need an insert and a walk through the store to check on pronation.

I buy them from the outlet store. there is a saucony outlet I shop at that usually has shoes way cheaper than online. Same with New Balance.
