I am totally serious on this. I'll bet Wetmore could go out to Stanford and coach the guys who were rejected; either cut from or quit the team, and have that group beat Stanford's NCAA squad within 2-yrs.

He tweeted today about having just had surgery.

Obviously, I hope he's alright, and it's nothing serious, but you'd have to figure that probably means he's done for the season, and Stanford's title shot is too.

Very unfortunate, if that's the case.

(I guess it might mean that the twins would get one more shot to run together next year, since they'd both be left with an extra season of XC eligibility.

Sure would be nice to see them get one chance to show what they can do, running together, when both are really healthy and really fit.)

Oh Bull crap...Colorado gets their fair share of Footlocker finalists. Don't even play that game. Wetmore is a phenomenal coach, but he gets plenty of talent to work with.

The Colorado, Oregon, Wisconsin, Oklahoma State and Stanford will NEVER be hurting for talent. Those schools get 50-70% of the top national recruits year in and year out. For people to be pretending like Colorado gets scraps and makes national champions out of them is ridiculous. Count the Footlocker finalists on their roster, you'll find more than one.

What in the world is going on at that place? Fractures and Surgery for everyone? Sounds more like football squad than XC.

Of course a more accurate spin on your facts is that Colorado is where track runners go to die; that they put all their eggs in the XC basket and then hibernate from December to September except for a few time trials in Califonia in April.

Sarrel finished 3rd at NCAA indoors over 3000m & placed 3rd at Pac 12s.

Bosshard finished in the top 10 over 10k

Kipp finished 3rd at the steeple, and won it in 2012

Coburn won the the mile at NCAA indoors in 2013 & won the steeple in 2013.

Kipp & Coburn both qualified for the olympics in 2012 in the steeple

Simpson ran superfast at just about every distance during her time at CU and made the olympic team in 2008

Nelson made the olympic team in the steeple in 2008

Vaughn ran 13:18 in 2008

So over a 7 yr period (2008-2014) you have Simpson (Barringer), Coburn and Kipp; and then a notch or two down Nelson, Sarrel, Bosshard and Vaughn. Not horrible but hardly a long list of T&F stars. Maybe WIAF has a point??!!

I think one other way to look at it might not just be the # of Footlocker/NXN finalists, but how they get spread out throughout the classes might be a different indicator. It seems that Oregon, Wisco, OSU, and Stanford get great recruiting CLASSES, while maybe Colorado gets away without needing to hoard multiple recruits every year. This group kind of lucked into a crazy class though. Moussa was obviously highly recruited, Winter threw down some very fine times at elevation. Pearson was very good in high school but came in as a transfer. Hurysz was a year older than them and came as a transfer after Pete Watson got a fine class at UNC and then bailled (what happened to that dude anyways). Theroux and Murphy really burst onto the scene under Wetmore though.

He just burned out, and dropped off the team. 50/50 at best he runs competitively again for Stanford.
