After running in Vibrams for a month, I don't see how anyone can stand to run in anything else.

That's a very good point that people seem to overlook a bit too easily. What separates humans from pretty much every other animal on the planet is that our own technology shaped our evolution to the point that we can no longer surive with only our naked bodies like they can.

A good pair of foot coverings was undoubtedly on everyone's christmas list long before christmas was invented, although I seriously doubt there were many people worried about how much they were pronating.

The average lifespan for the last 500 years has been over 60 if you exclude infant mortality.

Having said that, I think all runners should do 20-60 minutes per week of easy running with a forefoot strike in a minimalist shoe. It's a great way to strengthen the ankles and develop a livelier stride.

The day someone - anyone - finishes a race in front of me wearing Vibrams I will consider them. Not necessarily get a pair, but consider them something other than a joke. By the way, I'm not exactly at the front in many races, and still... Where are the enlightened ones??

I believe the current best performance in Vibrams was a 28:39 10,000 meters by Harry Summers of Australia a couple years ago.

----- Honestly, I don't know why there aren't pros running in Vibrams. I know tons of runners that use them, including myself. Less is more, in my opinion. But yes, obviously you have to have good form, run on your toes and stick to soft surfaces when you can.

In response to you other guys talking about pee: 1) you can only drink your own urine once. If you drink it a second time you will die. that's if you're on a raft in the ocean - something to do with the toxins. 2) 'polluted urine' - whatever that is - does not mean kidney failure. You can get foggy urine just from being dehydrated.

I feel like we were built for sprinting but there is no evolutionary advantage to being built for long distance running.

I agree. Also, why don't more runners do cross fit? Cross fit people just look better and are overall happier people. All yall's girlfriends wish that you stoppeed running and doing crossfit. A crossfit champion could win Western States no problem. A crossfit shmuck could even break the fastest known time for Noalan's 14.

Here is why we know that fivefingers a) suck and b) are only endorsed by Vibram themselves (often posing as an alleged runner).

Various real runners run in various real shoes BUT:

None of these runners enthusiastically, fanatically, passsionately (with noticeable panic in the voice) insist and demand that everybody else wear their favorite shoe.

You know when the latest 'get rich quick' scheme is bogus? When the guy supposedly cashing in on it know frantically demands that you do the same. If it worked, he'd get rich doing it and wouldn't need to get $15.95 from each of us.

If in fact these worthless 'shoes' made you faster than everyone else, the one guy allegedly using them (if a real one exists) would be setting records and definetly NOT insisting we all do the same and give him more competition!
