I have an IQ of 143 but I can't get a job. Do you think IQ tests are a good indicator of intelligence?

Ooops, left out my point. if you can't find anyone to hire you, sometimes you have to start your own business. Find something that is hard to come across in your area, and make it available

Job market is about flatlined. More and more employers are outsourcing and filling jobs with the bottom of the barrel because they are less likely to leave their position and do not require high pay. America is no longer the land of oppurtunity but the land of corporate greed. However, this is a natural cycle.... Monarchy ---> Rebellion ---> Democracy ---> Monarchy. This cycle continues because people fail to learn from the past.... We are now entering the monarchy phase, but it sucks for them...the top 1% are always completely wiped out during the rebellion phase.

High intelligence and high talent are often suppressed during this transition unless it comes from the upper class, because it potentially poses a risk to the system they are trying to create. So, don't feel bad. I am sitting at 158, and I've been unemployed for 2 years. Flawless interviews, it's just people don't want to hire someone who has more education and intelligence than they do....

And people have different aptitudes for learning different things. I lived on the same block as this girl who was in special ed classes throughout her youth and in addition was socially awkward. By her late twenties she established herself as an iconic rock star singer/songwriter.

based on the fact that you're asking the LRC crowd for advice, I'd recommend you use your formidable intelligence to learn about psychology - yours and that of others - and commit to a therapy that you think might work and that you can afford. And keep looking for work! Good luck!

This. Getting a job is 90% social skill and finding the kind of work people are perfectly happy to give to you.

I once knew a brilliant industrial electrician who could barely keep his life together. It was pretty scary how incapable he was of just taking care of the basics for himself and at the same time brilliantly solve challenging electrical problems in the plant.

Maybe learn to code?

So true in Massachusetts. The state government is loaded with political hacks and union thugs feeding at the public trough, which is one of the reasons it's pushing for the 2024 Olympics, it will be a feeding frenzy for do-nothings and their extended families who witnessed the pay outs in the Big Dig fiasco... 10 years late, $20B over budget and still leaks.
