I think I speak for all men everywhere when I say so long as you're not fat and I doubt you are, you can wear yoga pants as much as you like, wherever you like until the end of time or the sun explodes whichever event arrives first.

Why, oh why, have I seen cargo shorts mentioned multiple times on this thread? It is not 2004 anymore. Please stop wearing cargo shorts. They are about as hip as jean shorts. I am not fashion forward, but I at least know this much.

f' no it's the running equivalent of kids wearing football helmet and cleats in the grocery store.
I wear my race shirts around as casual clothes, but not running shoes or shorts.
I run in gym shorts and a t-shirt and do pretty much everything else in gym shorts and a t-shirt as well
I wore running half tights and singlet or road cycling kit for 3 days before the office admin asked me to stop because if they let me do it then one day everyone might show up wearing a racing singlet or road cycling kit.
The rationale through me off a bit; the office is very casual and t-shirts and ripped jeans are the norm. I don't think anyone else in the office runs or cycles regularly, so I can't see why they would even want to dress like that. And if they do take up running or cycling and start wearing that to work, I think that is something that should be celebrated, not shamed.

Seven years later, shorts and T-shirt is about as normal as it gets. Flip flops or old running shoes for footwear, depending on weather conditions.
There are very few occasions in my life where I need to put on “nicer” clothes outside of work. If that the case then it’s a polo or button down with chinos.
If you are fit, lift a little and wear some reasonably decently looking higher quality shorts (not ragged cargo shorts from Old navy) then I personally don’t think the look is too sloppy or unattractive. Others might not feel the same.
I guess my last point there is that you can take two dudes wearing basically the same thing, but look completely different. Shorts (not athletic shorts), tshirt (well fitting and simple) and running shoes can look clean. But if course we’ve all seen the fat slob at the grocery store wearing old, stretched out gym shorts and some crappy looking graphic T-shirt. Not a great look. But that’s his problem. Not mine. Wear what you like. Because America.
The first year or two in high school I was a major dork. I'd wear older running shoes, road race T-shirts, and older running shorts everywhere, other than when I'd run. It was newer stuff when running.
In the fall and winter I froze to death wearing a BR nylon running suit, because that was the thing.
It took me until my upperclass years to wear OP shorts, or pants, rather than running shorts, during the day-to-day.
I don't wear any running clothes except for when I'm actually running. I just wear regular clothes the rest of the time.
If I'm working around the house that's where the old running shirts get used. Especially if painting or cleaning the gutters. I always use an old pair of running shoes for mowing the lawn and other outdoor house projects.
No. I don't wear running gear as casual wear.
Having said that I do sometimes wear surf T shirts on the weekends, so I suppose that's sportswear.
Only time I wore anything other than running shoes since 1970 was at my daughter's wedding. Never got a complaint.

Work from home and hope never to wear a suit or dress shirt again.
Virtually always wear race t-shirts (after about 40 years of running, plenty to choose from); don't have wear any shoes other than retired trainers; wear shorts or tights around the house or to the shops (I'm usually about go training, have gone training, or going to do some stretching).
Going out I wear t-shirt and jeans, old trainers, and if it's cooler, a sweat-top or hoodie.
I'm 64 and live on the Oregon Coast where nearly everyone is pretty casual, and my wife is also pretty casual dresser most of the time too.
Just because you are a runner does not mean you have to walk around like a hoodlum.
A good pair of leather shoes is always worth wearing. And a nice shirt as well.
I wear old running shoes everywhere. After a little Shout, a good soaking, and washing in the machine, they look almost new.
I don't wear running Tees, but I often wear quarter zip long sleeve running tops in the winter. In summer, I wear cargo pants because they let me EDC in the front pocket and my phone goes in the cargo pocket. In winter, I wear nice sweat pants or 5.11 tactical pants.
I noticed this thread is 7 years old. It seems to me that people have gotten a LOT more casual in their casual dress over the last 7 years.
