In the context of their "teammate" status, neither is willing to race an honest race and potentially sacrifice victory/WR because one would have to lose. So they'll keep paying someone else to tow them through 26:4X time trials as long as they can handle it, never really putting anything at stake and certainly never being the "champion(s)" Mo self-proclaims to be. I'm aware of the Oly 10k. When he talks about Rupp's potential and issues relating to their "teammate" status it doesn't seem genuine. He just seems arrogant. Kindness is forced, which kinda sucks-- we don't hold Bekele to that identifiable status, but Mo benefits greatly from his "personality." I also think he feels guilty about his 1500m race last year. He seemed "off" afterward.

Geb was 22 when he ran 26:44, and 25 when he ran 26:22. I was blown away more with the 26:22 since he was able to take a whole 5 seconds off of Tergat's mark. I didn't think there was that much more left to move it. Of course, BK taking another 5 seconds out is all the more impressive.

This confirms just how young Geb was running his identical time to Rupp. Five whole years. That's five seasons more to get down to 26:2X for Geb. I wish Rupp the best am did love if he did it, but I don't think he'll ever run faster than Geb or Tergat, much less the inimitable Bekele, who was peerless in his prime (as others have said, he might still be in his prime).
